My assessment of this... In analogy form.

Jared learned to play golf with a $300 set of clubs from Target. He practiced quite a bit, and got really good, like +2 consistently.

After getting into a set of pro quality clubs, he's a scratch golfer because the new driver and wedges all have a wider sweet spot and a snappier shaft and allows him to focus more on the target rather than the impact.

In other words...tools matter, especially if you have some skill.

Nice report, but honestly, I expected this and figured it would be routine for you after all that Shavette. You're absolutely right about straights and their greater margin of error. A shavette doesn't scream at you the way hand forged steel does before skin penetration occurs. I get better tactile feedback with a true straight, and find the heavier blades are definitely more stable in the glide.

I thought shavettes were not so bad, but I had 75 traditional SR sessions under my belt when I first picked up a CJB, not so ironically on the Ides of March, last year.

We've basically done this exactly the same way, only from opposite ends of the path.

    Stunt shaving is bad, mmmmmkay?

    You should ask Neal.

Judgment is relative. So is good in that usage.

I think the handle colours could use some work. I'm not a big fan of the current colour scheme. Apart from that, however, it's a nice brush and one that I expect almost anybody could make work well for them as an only brush.

Just like gambling, only with razors. If we were honest...

And in all seriousness, this is the first time a shenanigan has me a bit nervous.

Pro tip: Ask for a plastic surgery consult at the local ER. They'll know what you mean. Scars much less gruesome this way. This tip is for Popsicle based shaving. Carriage bolts may require more advice.

It's all fun and games until the vascular and nerve surgeons get a call too.

Since things were not as rushed this morning, I was able to enjoy the process a little more. Reef Point is a very good soap. I don't think it is as easy to lather as Route 66 but I don't find it difficult. Went back to my normal 2 pass routine paying attention to my trouble spots as the shave progressed. After some very minor touch ups, I am BBS everywhere but my lower right neck. It's not worth chasing the baby on a Tuesday morning so we are good to go. A splash of Floid blue was a great end to the shave. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Day 9 of the '69 SA Focus, day 2 with a Polsilver. Went 6,5,3 on the 3 passes. Another nice, smooth shave today. Made one of my poorest lathers in a while. Had too much water in the boar to start and it took some time to get it right. As those who use Stirling products know, it will take an absurd amount of water, but I might have pushed that boundary this morning. Still slick, though.
Upped the settings a bit from yesterday to the settings I had last week, and do not really have any rawness. Didn't go ATG on the neck though- two opposite XTG. A nice DFS shave. Am becoming more comfortable with this razor the last few days I think.
Added the balm for more of the great scent. However, SWMBO walked into the bathroom and asked 'What's that smell?'. Alas, she is not a fan of the Gentleman...
    Have a great day all!

Hello my brothers. Just stopped in to say hi and let ya know I'll be back in April to audition blades in my Travel Razor. From what I could find on the Interwebs, I think it was manufactured in England ca. 1946-1950. Looking forward to being back with the gang. See ya!

Another wonderful travel shave this morning. The Uncle Jon's soap lathered easily and it's wonderful scent filled the room. Three easy passes for a BBS shave. This Supply Provision razor is so easy to use and provides excellent shaves, easily the best razor I own. Have a great day folks!

Great write up as usual. I am not at all surprised by the Duke 3 Synthetic high score. The Simpson Synthetic brushes are from other synthetic brushes.
