Since I was very rushed this morning, I am late posting. At any rate the shave was another automatic near BBS 2 pass with touch ups shave. The more I use the Flat Top the more I am impressed. The brush matches my preferences in a badger brush very closely. I will say that I expected it to be more of a soap destroyer but so far it doesn't eat soap like the Chubby 2 synthetic. A splash of Fine Vetiver was a great end to the shave. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Thursday.

    That is blasphemous !!!

It will be real hard to skip. In the meantime, I will be applying all sort of cream and balms in hops not to fall off the daily grind, umm, shave. Then again, maybe with my technique, it really is a grind!!!

After today's shave, I have reset the Phoenix's knot to 19mm. After testing with a scrunchie and with a dry fit, I am hopeful it will be better.

The Kent brush is just such a blast to use. You have to use enough soap to fill the knot, and since it is most suited for bowl lathering, it means making a BIG bowl of lather, which is always fun. It is enormous in your hand; almost ridiculous like the giant display swiss army knife at the Victorinox store. But it fits the hand well, and is surprisingly comfortable. In the looks department, everything about it is pure classic. The handle is sized to fit the bloom, or vice versa, so it doesn't have odd looking proportions, and the ivory goblet has a classy look that I like, the same way I like ivory Simpson handles. If there ever was a brush made to bowl lather, this is it. Loading out of a tub is cumbersome, but it does pick up the soap surprisingly fast. I hit its score a touch for that, but if you just scoop into the bowl, it works as quickly as any brush. It is perfection in softness, rivaling anything I have ever used, but is also dense. So you definitely get your wall of badger with this one. It is too soft to be considered very scrubby, but it is dense enough to have presence, and compared to other three bands does a good job. I love when doing a last pass or clean ups, that you can just lay a paint brush across your face and have it covered. I definitely had enough soap to finish a great shave. And then go wash my truck. And still have enough left over to shave @Fly2High. And then wash a pass or twos worth down the drain. This is definitely not a hurry up and shave before work brush, but it sure is fun to use. And even though this is not my favorite brush in the den, you couldn't tell it by the score.

Good writeup. I know that for me to go ATG on my neck, I need a SHARP blade. Anything less than that, and I am an irritated weeper.

I'm puzzled here. I thought the Gem Junior was the 1912 with the big black plastic handle. Is that only one variant and others came with metal handles, or did this Junior get retrofitted with a handle from a different model?

This has been a long week and I can't wait to get home. I've been working in Neal's 'hood for two days and was hoping to pop in to his work and compare scars. Unfortunately it didn't work out. Maybe next trip
I'm set up for tomorrow's shave, which will come at 4:30 in the morning, sigh.
Have a nice evening and good night!
