fathers birthday coming up and he lives by and swears by a good quality Boar Hair shaving brush he likes the scratchiness against his face when face lathering with soap or creams and he loves the way the Boar Hair shaving brush whips up lather for him, I asked if wanted to try a pure or best Badger Hair shaving brush but he says no need to fix something that's worked great for him for years, so my question is where can I find and purchase a good quality made Boar Hair Shaving Brush?

I don't have an answer to that, but if he likes scratchy and you want to add a touch of class, you could try a black badger Plisson. Everything I've read on the various forums, sounds like it may be just what you're looking for. Do a search and read for yourself though - it's been a while since I did.

Last I heard, if you tell Atkinson's you are a member of a shaving forum, they will deduct 20%. 'Tis a beautiful brush!!!

    Oh yeah...sizes here (Plisson's website).

Vulfix makes a pretty good boar brush or so I've been told. The Col Conk website lists a boar brush and a boar/badger mix.

I have a Van der Hagen boar brush that I like and use often. Easily found in Walmart/CVS/etc and cheap. Hope this helps abit.

I have a vulfix boar brush. A vs/2, I believe. I've used it daily for two years. It's always shed a bristle or two with every shave and now it's falling apart on me. Vulfix normally gets good ratings for quality and so I believe my brush is the exception and not the rule.

It's been a good brush- scratchy and firm without being irritating.

I hear that the cheaper boar brushes available at walmart (van der hagen, williams, burma shave) are poor quality and tend to fall apart. You can get a vulfix or an omega for a few dollars more and they should last for years.

+1 on the Omega Boar Brush if he is determined to stay with a boar.

I don't think so. Not that I can find on their site anyway.

I've tried several, and for me it's Omega all the way. I recommend the Omega pro size, $12.50 at www.qedusa.com
