March 17 Gillette SA w Sharp Star (2) WD High Mountain Badger Proraso Green Thayers Unscented Stirling Barbershop AS Day 12 of the '69 SA 109 focus, first day with the Sharp Star. 2nd day for this particular blade as I used it for one day in a Tech last weekend. Went 7,5,3 again for the 3 passes. Am getting consistent shaves with this razor, with just subtle differences between blades. Used the Proraso green this morning as I've been enjoying some Menthol in balms (and as a hope that Spring might be arriving soon!). The lather was consistent as always with this soap, but after cycling through so many high quality artisan soaps, it doesn't feel quite as nice afterwards. I am starting to dig the menthol feel, though. The Sharp Star doesn't feel quite as sharp as a Polsilver or Astra to me in this razor, but still did a nice job with the 3 passes and touchup. No weepers today, but did have a bit of sting and redness after the Thayers and then Stirling splash. Who knows why...I'm not worried about getting to the bottom of it today. Have a great day all!
Definitely scored with this razor. My first time impression is pretty positive. I get some funny looks from the guys at the gym, but I think they are just jealous.
March 17, 2017- Fatboy Friday Razor: F2 Gillette 195 Adjustable (4) Blade: Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus (2) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Soap: Cella It's Friday, so what better than to make it a Fatboy Friday. My wife and daughter left early for an appointment so it was also a good time to pull out the Cella. The stars aligned and the result was an effortless near-BBS. Unfortunately, I have a dentist appointment later today to address a toothache which has developed over the last few days, so this shave may well be the high point of the day.
FWIW, I think you're right about not enough product. I don't have Turkish Bath, but I do have Apothecary, and have had great, thick lathers almost every time. I have loaded for about 20 seconds, though.
SOTN March 16th Schick C1 C Schick 3 The Blades Grim "Cinder" Satin Tip The Purest Barbasol Pacific Rush ASB Last night was the best shave I've gotten out of the C1 So far. Really loaded the heck out of The Blades Grim Cinder soap and had a very rich, shiny, creamy lather. I am a bit sleep deprived today as Logan was a bit fussy last night after his one month checkup and round of vaccinations. Have a great day my friends!
I'm curious as to what you think of the Reserve Cool, Mark. I love the Reserve Spice (scent and feel), and am waiting on the Cool.
