One focus that has crept upon me has become to make sure I shake the brush well enough so as not to blend too much water with the shave soap. I did better with that today.

Super Safety Razors Trac II Handle
    Personna Twin II (1)
    Simpson Chubby 2 Super
    KMF Pomegranate Grapefruit
    Unrefined shea butter

My mini Trac II focus began today with a surprisingly good shave. I held as much constant in my technique as possible, with the exception of the razor choice and the use of only unrefined shea butter afterward. I have a very comfortable darn fine shave shave. With a little practice, I think I can get close to BBS. No nicks at all, and I even did some ATG strokes over the bulb of my chin.

I could tell the Personna blade was not quite as sharp as most of my DE blades, but it served me well in two passes with a few touch-ups. Shaving with the Trac II is almost mindless and not nearly as much fun as with a DE. The handle is almost too long, but it has a nice weight to it. More recent editions of this handle, like mine, include some "grippy" rings at the bottom. I kept the water running during the shave, as the cartridge filled with lather quickly. I shut the water off momentarily, and I could hear the whiskers being cut.

The only things missing from this 70's shave were the background music by The Bad Company, black lights, long collars, big sideburns, and the fu manchu. Oh, well, I'll never be as cool as @Keithmax!

I plan to use this set up for the remainder of the month, except for a brush, cream, or soap change, to see if my shaves improve and to see how the Trac II treats my skin.

    Happy Monday!

I had a great visit with my daughter. Just said good bye to her. That is always tough.

I find it is much easier to get good to great shaves from a cartridge razor now that I have mastered DE razors. Love the brush. :happy096:

Monday morning physical therapy makes everything feel more rushed. Such a morning is made much easier with good technique and products that work well together. Tranquility was very easy to lather and provided a nice slick base. I find that a thinner slicker lather works better with the artist club razors. Two passes and minor touch ups ended with the expected near BBS results. I finished off with a splash of Fine Lavender and made it to therapy on time. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Thank you Jim. The photo was taken on my black computer desk. On the Mac, I have a choice to darken the photo which I did. Then I used there standard Vignette adjustment to increase the density and radius of the black circle around the edges. The Mac and iPhone make editing photos so much easier.

The same basic tools are available on the iPhone. I just find them easier to use on the Mac.

Thanks Clint! I'm liking the Chubby 2 more each time I use it. Any idea how many shaves I can expect from a Trac II cartridge? I'm guessing 3 or 4 based on how the blade felt today.
