My hat goes off to anyone who can get the modern Williams to work. I just can't!

    Nicely done.

My first shave with an OCMM was a mess. I took a day to heal then got back on the horse. I ended up with a nice shave and used it a ton for a year or so. It is just too aggressive for me any more. Williams is nice but takes some patience.

I can get Williams to lather but it's just on the dry side. Even with adding water. It's more than likely the water hardness and deposits. Every other soap works great. It's weird.

the water makes a difference. Soaking the puck for a little bit helps, too. I was having problems with a puck of Colgate and soaking the puck for about 5 minutes fixed the problem.

My first time with Williams, I soaked it for the length of my shower(following the advice of a guy doing a Youtube video). That got it going.

Once you figure out the OCMM it is awesome.

Yea it can be a weird soap at tumes. A favorite of mine though.

So maybe I should give that stash of Williams that's under my bathroom sink another try.

i started using a brush and williams soap around 2005 i think.i used canned goop before then, but still used mach 3s until last fall.i assume it is the newer formula as i have always bought it new at the drugstore.now i have many other soaps to use but for those 10 plus years i never really had any complaints about it.lathered well enough, did the job better than gels and foams for me and was cheaper to boot.most average joes used this stuff for years .

I can't tell if our water is soft, medium, or hard.

No wonder I've got 10 Willimas Mug refill soaps put away and 1 still going, and it best to used a boar brush when creating a lather in a mug always load the brush in the mug like you hate it so much until you've got a huge lather hog before you start shaving.
