Thanks for the Info. It was a nice shave, andwill post it in a bit. I love to read what works for people. Thank you. I will check that out in the morning after work.
You know, some very knowlegable cats, whose opinions and experiences, I respect, seem to think that since the original blades for the pre-micromatic razors had thicker spines...Therefore with a shim or ;half a spine more; put under the spine would create the same angle and make for a better shave. This makes sense, in theory... I tried it in several older razors...In my ER 1909, it makes the blade get caught up in the rear spring that holds the blade in place...very bad, definitely doesn't work, in this one! In the one razor that it isn't needed, the OCMM, I found it really mellowed it out. It brought the agression level down one notch...it shouldn't, but it does...I had one Damaskeene 1912 that it made more aggressive, but my ER 1912 was already perfect and the shim was unnoticeable... So for me...the jury is still 'out'....But my favorite SE's really don't need it...But when cats say it works for them, I totally respect that it does...You know how "a lot of cats like alot of things" quote unquote...the old, YMMV factor reigns supreme! But in the ER 1924 razor you guys are giving away across the street, I really don't think it's necessary...That one is perfect with modern blades...doesn't need anything....IMHO...of course...lol! I think that razor is one of mankinds greatest achievements, along with the Colt 45, the Sistine Chaple, and the Aston Martin DB7...
Awesome post Bird. YMMV is the catch there. I might try one in something someday somewherej ust to see.
My 1924 shave tonight. I picked up some Rose of Bulgaria cream from a member here. It turned out to be an awesome cream. Great lather and wonderful rose scent. I paired it with a dirty bird scuttle and higher loft vie-long horse. Then I threw in a new treet blade and cut loose. Great shave. The Treet felt a touch harsh to start but a splash of British Sterling took care of that. Very comfortable close clean shave. The error message says my pic is to large. It's a nice one I promise.
Sun 2nd April After an ER 1924 Shave yesterday turned to the General, and had another smooth comfortable shave. To be truthful the finished shave from each of them was not markedly different.
Somebody said patent anniversary so double Shovel it is. The Gem bladed (third use) razor gave up the ghost mid head shave, switching to the Permasharp equipped '24 was a great relief. Dolphin Town. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

All the recent talk about Hussies got me thinking about mine and the chance to bring her out came about tonight. I leave for an early early flight tomorrow so shaving tonight with the long lasting close Hussy shave was just the thing. Wow, she did not disappoint. It is almost too easy. Nothing to it - quick, super close, minimal feedback from the alum. What's not to like? Mon 3rd April RR Hawk + S/S Handle With Schick Proline P-20 [ 3 ] Quite aggressive razor , a bit uncomfortable around the chin for me, slightly sore afterwards.
Gawd.... This place has awesome razor porn early in the morning. So a wet morning in Geismar Louisiana. Go us.
SOTD April 3, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick adjustable injector Brush: Jayaruh boar Lather: Proraso Green Post: Witch hazel splash, Barbasol Pacific Rush aftershave WTG, touch-up Schick adjustable worked quite well this morning. Smooth and comfortable shave. Proraso Green provided a nice backdrop and the Barbasol gives a little more menthol to finish it off. Have a great day!
I don't see a lot of Autostrop action here, I don't know if it's a blades issue or lousy shaves. I get one great beard and head shave with the VC1 and a Feather (The GEMs last two full shaves). I'd use it more often if I didn't have to change blades every time. Next time I'll treat it as the adjustable it is and back off a bit and see how she does. Beautifully close and drama free shave.
