Soap Pass-around Volume II - 2017

Wow, this is just a few samples and it is gonna take a while to try them. I think the big box is going to absolutely send me into some sort of frenzy! I have two unidentified samples that smell extremely similar, and I have identified from the list that at least one should be PAA sacre blue. Are there two of these, or is there a mystery soap?

 

So it's time to cut some samples but I'm wondering how much of a sample have previous box holders taken, how do you judge how much?

Well, a little goes a long way. I can't speak for what everyone has done, but maybe enough for 2 or 3 shaves? @RyX, @stingraysrock, @Straight razor dandy and others....what did you all do?

Sugar cube-ish sized. Enough for a shave or two. Glad I did with the MWF. First lather was unimpressive, second much better.

I did enough for a shave or two depending on how much there was to begin with.

I took a pea size amount of several soaps. Because of the size I took, I mashed them into my scuttle so I could lather them up.

I have about six samples left, but have been shaving with Stirling Electric Sheep and Stirling Scot's Pine for the last few shaves. It is time to return to the samples I grabbed from the box.

 

Accounted for. The two samples are in my pic. Top right sample, and second sample up in the middle row.

 

Those 2 were not labeled (the one appears to have a B&M Hallows label but that's not what was in there). The one smelled of peppermint and I would guess there's some menthol in there. They were a mystery to me.

 

I took enough for 2 shaves so I could make an educated decision on them

 

Since ob1page added a stirling gentleman to the box, may I take the smaller sample left from the vendors sample and replace that with his in the stirling bag

I typically take enough for 2-3 shaves as @PLAla mentioned.

Here's what I do:
Open the box when I receive it and smell test everything, putting the ones I like best to the side. I typically take 2-3 more smell tests to make sure I didn't miss anything. If it is something that makes the cut or even a brand that maybe I don't like as much but want to test lather, I will take enough for 2-3 shaves and then send the box to the next person.

Excellent shave this morning, three easy passes for a BBS shave. I used a sample of the Turkish Bath, excellent product. It was slick, easy to lather and offered good protection. It matched up perfectly with the Stirling Barbershop aftershave. Have a great day folks!

 

Wish I could see more of that brush handle under the razor. Looks like a very cool handle.
