Arko Adjustable April!!!!! April 6 Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9) Blade - (3) Soap - Arko Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum Final day with the Lord Super Stainless and the Slim is wide open. Arko and the Wolf always produces a great lather. I really enjoy the feel of the Silvertip as it splays nicely and really whips lather up in no time at all. Comparing it to the synthetics - they also produce a lather very quickly, and a nice one at that, they don't splay as much if at all and.....the synthetics seem to load better from the face lather. Both the JR46 and WCS synthetics had enough lather in them after three passes to do at least two more passes easily. After three passes on the Wolf there was maybe enough for one more pass but nothing extra beyond that. Nice three pass for the baby tonight. A bit surprising how well this blade performed all the way through the gap progression. No worse than near-BBS and the baby showed up with no blood and very little alum burn tonight. Clearly a blade I won't mind having around. I'm going to switch to the Classic SS tomorrow and see if it does any better but it will be tough to beat this one. I may stick with the Lord brand for awhile as well to try them all out. I know I tried the Platinum before with less than stellar results but I'm always up for a revisit. I have a lot of catching up to do. Busy day at work taking beds off the floor that are shipping as floor models. It's that time of year. Buy 'em cheap while we switch out inventory! Tomorrow I have four replacements coming in that will have to be floored. Then four more next week, then another 5 or 6 before we hit May. At least I'm getting my exercise! Have a great Friday tomorrow!!! One week down in April - it's getting closer!
Thank you, it is 6/8 and full hollow. It is very loud and will I prefer big razors I find with a full hollow 6/8 is the max for me, any larger and I get blade flex.
April 7 (Friday ) - creams focus Schick Krona / Voskhod ( 7) Alluminati Envy White brush KMF Lavender Shea cream Next cream in the alphabet is KMF Lavender Shea. This one is not new to me as I tested it last year as a brushless shave cream and found it lathered well too. When you consider its cost, this cream punches way above its weight. Pleasant scent of lavender, not quite as intense as Castle Forbes but very definitely there, reliable lather and excellent face feel. And for a bonus, I finally got the stupid pump on the bottle unclogged and working. Woo hoo! A good DFS from the Schick Krona and Voskhod combo. And the KMF left my face feeling nice enough not to bother with anything other than a cold water rinse. Hope everybody has a good Friday leading into a pleasant weekend!
April 7, 2017Wolfman WR1 OCFeather (2)Doug Korn DK7 with Druida ManchurianNuavia Rossa The Nuavia Rossa has been a real treat to use this week since it is very easy to lather and smells great. The DK7 gives a good scrub while face lathering and doesn't hog the lather. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. I am really enjoying the super smooth drama free shaves this week. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
So far I have been having better luck with smaller razors when trying to roll up under my jaw. I think this is a technique thing, as my 6/8 and up blades seem to do better the more I use them (duh). I want to get a big ole battle axe one of these days, but since I have to shave from so many angles, I am betting 5/8 to 6/8 will end up being my sweet spot.
Several of us are getting into the spirit of MAYhem (the month during which we try shaving with questionable equipment or technique) by trying out the disposable straight razors Brian found on Ebay. If you want in, PM me with your address and when I receive them from Thailand I'll send you one. All that's required is to use it on the day in May we decide on and report to the 30 day thread with your results.
At least you didn't have a crack head start a fire that caused Interstate 85 to collapse. Traffic here is always bad but now it is just horrible.
