April 7 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Arko Gillette Red Tip Stirling Unscented PSB Clubman VI Bay Rum AS It was a great gym shave this morning. I am going to call it a BBS. The razor and Arko worked together perfectly. I used another Rapira Swedish blade, and this one was great. It was very smooth, and the results showed themselves. It was definitely a great way to get myself prepped for a Friday at work. I hope everyone has a great day!
Thank you, Clint! It has been a good week for shaving! Of course most weeks have been good for shaving since I've been here.
Since I make ice cream novelties for a living, my participation in this is mandatory! The story value alone is worth the price of entry. (Entry is free, right?!? )
Gillette NDC Tech Bulldog KAI Stainless (3) Semogue BC Texugo TOBS Rose SC Albeit a quick shave(1 pass and a little clean up), it was nice enough that I didn't need any post shave care other than a splash of cold water. My April focus may be changing a bit shortly as I have a shavette coming my way and I don't want to wait until next month to learn how to use it.....
SOTD April 7, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick G8 injector Brush: Omega Hi synthetic Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine American Blend aftershave WTG, XTG Nice Fat Friday shave. Mitchell's was terrific today. Beautiful, shiny, rich lather. It may the best Mitchell's lather I've gotten yet. The synthetic brush did a great job with it and the hydration level was spot on. Really nice shave overall. Have a great day!
OK back to shaving feedback. Learned a lot today by getting home and restoring my zen with my 40s Superspeed, Stirling badger brush, TOBS, and Astra SP. Easily a DFS+ with no irritation, and just a slight tingle from the from the alum. Learnings: 1. The travel razor and drugstore blades were not only an inferior shave to my regular set up, but a PITA in terms of travel and convenience (or lack thereof). At some point I will check the Walgreens blades in my superspeed, but regardless of the culprit, I'll probably just use carts for speed and travel convenience on future business trips where I don't check my luggage. As I said before, with better technique I got a pretty good DFS with my cart. As a result of all of these findings, my birth year ('66) travel razor will go up for grabs for $10. 2. I am a TOBS and superspeed fanboy. 3. Don't let anyone tell you a badger brush doesn't have a break in period. Sure, it doesn't need a break in like a boar brush, but my Stirling badger is getting softer every day. The first day I got it I was not overly impressed. The more I use it, the more I like it. 4. I came home from my trip with a cold, so if my sinuses don't clear up my soap focus may have to detour to a blade focus until I can smell again. TBD…
