Since I make ice cream novelties for a living, my participation in this is mandatory! The story value alone is worth the price of entry. (Entry is free, right?!? )
Gillette NDC Tech Bulldog KAI Stainless (3) Semogue BC Texugo TOBS Rose SC Albeit a quick shave(1 pass and a little clean up), it was nice enough that I didn't need any post shave care other than a splash of cold water. My April focus may be changing a bit shortly as I have a shavette coming my way and I don't want to wait until next month to learn how to use it.....
SOTD April 7, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick G8 injector Brush: Omega Hi synthetic Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine American Blend aftershave WTG, XTG Nice Fat Friday shave. Mitchell's was terrific today. Beautiful, shiny, rich lather. It may the best Mitchell's lather I've gotten yet. The synthetic brush did a great job with it and the hydration level was spot on. Really nice shave overall. Have a great day!
OK back to shaving feedback. Learned a lot today by getting home and restoring my zen with my 40s Superspeed, Stirling badger brush, TOBS, and Astra SP. Easily a DFS+ with no irritation, and just a slight tingle from the from the alum. Learnings: 1. The travel razor and drugstore blades were not only an inferior shave to my regular set up, but a PITA in terms of travel and convenience (or lack thereof). At some point I will check the Walgreens blades in my superspeed, but regardless of the culprit, I'll probably just use carts for speed and travel convenience on future business trips where I don't check my luggage. As I said before, with better technique I got a pretty good DFS with my cart. As a result of all of these findings, my birth year ('66) travel razor will go up for grabs for $10. 2. I am a TOBS and superspeed fanboy. 3. Don't let anyone tell you a badger brush doesn't have a break in period. Sure, it doesn't need a break in like a boar brush, but my Stirling badger is getting softer every day. The first day I got it I was not overly impressed. The more I use it, the more I like it. 4. I came home from my trip with a cold, so if my sinuses don't clear up my soap focus may have to detour to a blade focus until I can smell again. TBD…
Day 12 of 30 days of Henckel straights I switched to MDC today. I do like it better than ABC, but can't explain why. 2 passes today produced a 90% BBS and 10% DFS. Excellent! DIY Pre-shave Oil MDC Face Lathered 24mm High silvertip set an extra 10mm deep 2 passes, WTG, WTG Sampsons All Natural Aftershave Balm Square Toe 7/8 Henckel 17
7 April 2017 TGIF Blade Focus Shave Since it's Friday I broke out the Trumper "Limes" Shaving Cream. A few minutes attention with my Omega 6212 and the limey goodness was ready. The 7 o'clock Black finished the week strong, delivering a 2.5 pass BBS. I splashed on some Clubman and Friday was off to a fantastic start. Next up for audition is the Gillette Silver Blue. This blade works so well in my NEW that I'm expecting it to bear away the bell in this competition. TGIF! fellow Denizens!
Entry is free, but whoever bleeds the most picks up the bartab. That can be a scary thing with this group. Keep in mind, you have a Marine a piepliner and an accountant at tax time that will be bellied up. And thats just for starters.
SOTN April 6th Merkur 34C / Feather (2) The Blades Grim Smolder soap and AS Satin Tip The Purest Crown King Scuttle Day 2 on the Feather is always a little smoother for me. No issues with weepers last night and a comment from SWMBO telling me how good I smelled. She loves smolder and for that reason it will always have a place in my den. Have a great day friends! P.S. just because
