I had a very good experience with Wheat State Soaps and Barrister & Mann. They are the slickest I have yet tried and might help. The menthol soap I just tried seemed to help prevent razor burn for me, might help you. Either that or join the cold shavers club and shave with cold water on your face.
I have had similar results with my R41. About half the time I get irritation on my neck when I go for bbs. The growth pattern is a spiral in a couple of places. I'd like to see if there is a routine or formula for bbs and no irritation every time with my progress and then my R41. I'm starting with my progress because I let my son borrow my r41 to see if he likes it.
Welcome! This thread helped me a ton in getting to be able to replicate results, and figuring out what details I wasn't focusing on. Pictures help us a bunch, along with a detail description on what you are doing. (Pass directions, number of passes, quality of lather, how many shaves on the blade, ect.) Then as you make changes to what you do and get little changes in results, it becomes easier to fix the problem. Glad to have you on board.
I have the same spiral pattern a few spots on my neck as well. It took me a bit to get them figured out, but this group was helpful. Even now I don't usually chase the baby around (I get enough of that with a 14 mo old running around). As @Drygulch mentioned, details and pics help the guys on here see and make suggestions. One little piece of advice that helped me was riding the cap. It may be old news to you, but keeping on that cap, especially on the neck, really helped smooth things out and calm the irritation. Glad to have you aboard.
