The sheer brilliance of Marvin Gaye and James Jamerson really show here when the other sounds are stripped away. Gives me chills.
Mash Liquor, the best Japanese Kingston Trio cover band in the f@$&in universe. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I feel like Marvin Gaye is the "model soul singer." His pitch expression and timing are uncanny. Truly owns his vocals.
I pick up Uli Jon Roth: Tokyo Tapes Revisited this weekend. It's an unbelievable live record. Uli's band is stunning to say the least. Uli's versions of these songs are quite a bit different than the originals he recorded with the Scorpions back in the mid 70's. Not better and not worse, just different. They have a different atmosphere and a more "fusion" vibe to them. You can hear why he left the Scorpions after the original Tokyo Tapes in 78. It was all for the best though. The Scorpions went on to super stardom writing arena anthems and Uli embarked on very artistic and eclectic career. I highly recommend this record for fans of the Scorpions and fans of guitar virtuosity. Listen to that vibrato !!!
I watched a Bill Murray movie from 2005 that I hadn't seen, "Broken Flowers", OK movie, but what is still sticking to me is the very cool soundtrack.
