It's amazing how quickly it can all fall into place. I am assuming I will have some setbacks, but I KNOW I can shave with a straight.
I'll see what I can do to keep up, and revisit the thread to mine for gems. I'm not one to keep track of what I have said much less others. How's about I drop them in Out of Context thread if I can find it? (It's eluding my search ATM)
Shave of the day: Gillette 1940's Super Speed Sputnik blade Omega 10049 boar brush CRSW Limenthol Stirling Unscented with Menthol Balm Osage Rub Florida Water This razor is creeping up and becoming a favorite. I find myself wanting to reach for it more and more. 2 passes and done with great results. I wish I could get this soap scent with stronger menthol. It's great stuff for a hot day. I have thrown every mentholated thing I have at my face today in an effort to stay cool. This summer is shaping up to be brutal. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Had my April Adjusted off focus Truefitt & Hill, Japanese brush of undetermined parentage '46-'47 Gillette Aristocrat with a Personna Med Prep blade Alum block and Pinaud Lilac Vegetal After Shave Lotion First no stress shave in almost a week so I grabbed a sample of Lavender cream to try out. Plenty of acceptable lather generated by the brush of mixed bristle - badger and horse I think... Good scent from the product, but I don't have a matching AS so I went Heroic for the finish. The inbetween action accomplished with a solid performer The Aristo. I can see what became Fat Boy engineering evident in this Gillette. Don't think I'm in a hurry to replate it thought the cap is shy of that infamous thin gold wash. The underlying nickel is holding up fine. After several hurried undocumented shaves lately I took my time and DFSed myself well. Concluded a five day visit with my three grandchildren, daughter, and Ex-SWMBO at 5AM today. The older twin girls needed to get back to Georgia for school since Spring Break was last week. We packed high concentration days full of fun activities that included a crawfish boil, a day at a local festival & traveling carnival rides, and a fishing trip that concluded with a blue crab boil & fish fry. It's going to take me a week to get my house back in order. I've gotten used to living single. Good Shaves Y'all!
Razor: Gillette Black Beauty (R-2) 1971 Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten Plus (11) Brush: El Druida Barberpole w/Manchurian Soap: Eufros Brisa da Oriente Aftershave: Stirling Executive Man Balm.
Thanks Clint. I find the Eufros Soap very easy to lather, with a medium slickness. Not much of a scent, however, it does provide for a great shave.
Very nice Doug! The Barberpole is one of Javier's best designed brushes. Remarkable, wouldn't you agree?
April 11, 2017... Two pass shave with lots of touch ups. Not trying to get a BBS, but just trying to get rid of some stubble. After the third nick on the touch up (wasn't using lather, kept thinking I was close and didn't want to take time to smear some on) I told myself I needed to quit. Otherwise same ol' same ol'.
April 12 Up to day is Joseph Rodger near wedge that was honed by @gssixgun so it is an edge reference shave for me. Completing the shave is MdC with some liquid lanolin added and a Rooney silver tip. The edge was perfect very smooth and very sharp but I had trouble controlling the razor because of the stub tail. I did not realize how much I used the tail of the razor for fine control of the angle. This lack of control prevented what could have been an epic shave. Irritation A Closeness A- Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+
A little Heroism is a always a great way to wrap up a shave. Sounds like you have had a nice time with your family in town.
If I had those two razors sitting there, I would have been shaving my back, with both arms over my shoulders like a pair of windshield wipers.
