Thank you, Clint. The humidity was back with a vengeance today. We had a little break from it for a while, but it was muggy this morning (plus fog so thick you couldn't see cars more than a hundred yards or so in front of you). The menthol was very welcome this morning.
Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed that shave. Tomorrow I will introduce you to Helga's big brother, Bruin.
April 13, 2017 Razor: M3 Schick Adjustable (3.5) Blade: Personna Mini Hair Shaper Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Listerine After a few days' detour on the J1, I switched over the the M3 Adjustable today. Using the two back-to-back, it's easy to see how much different the feel is on the Adjustable than the older razor. This morning, at least, I don't think I liked that difference. I'm hard pressed to put it into words but it seems to center partially around the idea of "glide". I'm finding that the J1 moves nicely around my face while the M3 seems to want to whisk away all the lather and then drag on the damp skin. I assume it's something in the flatness of the head and the lesser blade exposure on the M3. I'd be curious to hear what the Injector experts have to say about the differences between the two. Two passes to an incident-free DFS, so no complaints there.
First of all, thanks for all the feedback from the 30 day crew. It is much appreciated! Today I went back to Astra SPs in the superspeed and went back to an almost BBS, weeper free shave this morning. (I can't ever seem to achieve more than a DFS on my neck, and when I try it tends to get irritated.) At 30-40 shaves in, I'm still a relative noob, so for now I've decided to follow the advice here and stick with the setup that allows me a consistent shave and a good platform to try new soaps & creams without getting too far from shore. - 40s Superspeed - Astra SP - Stirling 24mm Finest 2 Band Between soaps, creams and better learning my grain patterns this should keep me occupied for a bit. Today's shave was a new soap - Pre De Provence 63. Seemed to me to be more slick but less protective than my creams. As this was my first foray away from creams I'm not sure I'm right about this, so the word "seemed" is an important one. Basically, a super close shave, but lots of feedback from the alum afterwards.
I really like your Old Type. Mine has such heavy wear on the plating that the handle just shows flecks of it and the cap is totally bare. Nice to see one in such good condition!
Thank you Chris. The cool thing is that I'm still learning more than I'm sharing. I'm now on a honing and restoration learning binge. This place is littered with helpful guys with lots of knowledge. I can't recommend the thirty day thread enough as it is the most helpful thread and group of guys on the Internet, period!
