I wouldn't think of grilling ribs without some Schlafly around. And Guiness. Gotta have a true STL beer and mother's milk around here.

The problem with this place is, no matter how steep an angle you get the train tipped at, some zealous nitwit will insist on posting some shaving pics, and BANG! the whole thing's back on track again. I must say that as a Senior Devil in the bureaucracy of Hell, my namesake finds it very frustrating...

This is the April Fools day limited release from Barrister & Mann. Owner said it was the half joking name they were going to go with when they started the business. Its a beta test for their new soap base for the upcoming Barrister Reserve line of soaps. Its good stuff, but not as thirsty as other B&M soaps I have used.

BTW, I apologize for mentioning the whole pot legalization thing. I think the handgun calibres were fair game, but the other strayed over the line into discussing politics and that was simply not polite.

In other news, how would people who have used it rate Proraso Green for comparative menthol strength with other soaps and creams on the market? It seemed mild when I first lathered up, then gradually felt colder although my face didn't numb at all. Leaving off other shave products, I continued to feel a mild cooling on my face for about 15 minutes. Is it considered a mild, medium or strong menthol?

I think of it as a milder menthol. There, but mild.

I've never used another menthol soap/cream (why do I continue confessing that...the enablers are so thick around here) but my impression is it's a mild but effective menthol. Definitely cools things off but part of that is the eucalyptus too. As a former trumpet player I was a eucalyptus fan...you keep it in a handkerchief to wipe your chops with...numbs them down so you can keep playing the high notes without feeling how tired your mouth is. Remember that famous handkerchief Louis Armstrong always had with him? Eucalyptus baby.

    Arko Adjustable April!!!!!

    April 16

    Razor - Soviet Consul
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Arko
Brush - West Coast Shaving Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Third and final day for the Sputnik so let's crank open the Consul to 9 and let 'er rip! I'm going to have to get a Futur at some point to compare gaps on these two razors. I'm ready for the challenge and the WSC Synthetic did its job in popping the Arko into a huge amount of lather.

You can seriously feel the blade with this razor at this setting and it doesn't help that the wonkiness shows up pretty good. Mainly the corners of the blade get bent down just a touch so even if you don't feel that you know it's there and it's a mind trick. I stayed on the cap (there's that technique thing we discussed earlier) and managed to get a decent first pass except for one cut on my right jawline. Something about that area seems to draw mistakes from me. In this case it might have been the wonky corner but I also think it could be my own attempt to make the pass a bit too fast right there. Anyway, some blood, nothing major and I lathered up for pass two.

XTG with a little ATG to finish on the second pass and the cut stopped bleeding on its own as I shaved. I finished with a nice DFS and I'm not pushing it further. Alum was already the hottest its been this week. I'm happy with the shave and that's all I need to know.

I'm still impressed with this Soviet razor. It works! Nearly identical to the quality shave the Gillette's deliver in spite of a couple of minor issues with the build. It's a fun razor to have around and it paired very well with the Sputnik. Hope you all had a marvelous day today! Sorry for the interruption to the shenanigans but it has to be done.

I thought you were just discussing current events in Canada. No worries.

On soap.... It's more Eucalyptus than menthol to my senses. I'd put in at like a 3/10 on the Menthol Shock Scale.

And a 4th "B". Blues. We may not be as famous for that as Memphis but we've got some wicked good Blues going on around here. East St. Louis was a hotspot for the Blues back in the day. I have a brother in law who grew up on that side of things and when he was 10 and 11 would go to the clubs and do shoe shines outside the front door where someone was playing that he wanted to hear. Once things got started he'd slip inside the front door with his box and hang out there to watch. A few times he'd get run back out the door but usually they'd just act like they didn't see him there. He knows more about the old Blues legends than anyone I know.

I tried something new I went three passes wtg and then a pass in each direction xtg and a clean up pass. I have very little irritation and it was a very fine shave. I think next time I'll do two passes wtg and then the passes xtg and a clean up.
