I read someone in a local forum that the best thing is to treat a brush, like you would treat real hair. Vinegar is a softener. My mother used it for ages for removing salt residues from surfaces in contact with hard water. It's also used as a substitute to Calgon for washing machines. I 've washed my Omega 48 once with dishwashing liquid bath, followed by a baking soda bath. Came out better than before, at least for me. It needed a bit of softening because it's new and the baking soda is excellent degreaser, it's good for removing soap residue. In fact, i put to the same 2 baths also the razor and when it came out, 90% of soap residue was gone and it was shining. I wiped manually the remaining 10%.

I 've read some others use hair shampoo. But i think the baking soda is very good against the soap residue that might be deep in the bristles, plus, the baking soda is a mild mold killer, just in case mold starts to build in there (i read that it's possible).

    No telling how many *in*the*wild deals I passed up for being biased about certain razor types. If I spot anything shave related I consider;

    1. Would I use & enjoy it
    2. Would someone else use it
    3. Should I be paying bills instead

    Sideburns?

Depends on the State and/or City. Some places have mandatory gun possession laws, others allow open or concealed carry of sidearms, and then there's the places that ban possession. Both my parents have Conceal Carry Permits.

    Sorry, not even close! :happy097:

I understand that, but about shavettes, i can already tell you that i wouldn't enjoy them. Yes! Sideburns!!! :happy088: Just curious. What happens when neighbours have fights? Gunfight at the OK Corral? :transport024: :happy097:

thanks. I corrected the post above. I like Piacenza as well and my reasoning still holds.

I was just testing all of you to see who was paying attention and who really knows their soap scents!!

I never see a sign in a front yard that says "We don't own guns". That's almost an invitation to an armed robbery. The flip side is you never know who's strapped, so being a robber is a dangerous career choice.

OK this is the stuff that really needs to stop. What happens when you and your neighbor have a spat? Do you run outside with your DE razor and have a good old fashion throwdown? Grab a kitchen knife and threaten to cut them? No? None of that? So why would it be any different if all of a sudden people now possess firearms? This unfounded notion that all of a sudden guns exert some kind of mind control over their owners is nonsense.

I've been around guns my entire life and own several. Growing up they weren't even locked up. But I knew not to touch them. And hundreds of thousands more grew up just like me. And haven't had a single problem.

    April 18, 2017...

No shave on Monday, which gave me two days worth of growth this afternoon. I always like shaving with two days growth. It makes me feel like I'm actually doing something. Two days is also about the longest I can go without a shave. Any longer and I start to feel like a hippie.

So I picked up the Canadian Schick E3 and not wanting to chance it with another use of the blade, I said adios! And with a pull/push motion ejected the old blade and loaded a new one.

The Stirling Pharaoh's Dreamsicle was quick to lather with the Simpson Case Best Badger brush, and once loaded I began to face lather. Picking the razor back up I got to work, going this way and that, slicing hairs off of my face. I got a good weeper on my first pass, but after that things went fairly well. I did some minor touching up, and found a pass to finally get rid of a trouble spot.

The application of the alum was cool on the cheeks, under the lower lip, and the upper lip, with some minor sensation under the jaw and neck. But not as bad as expected.

I was going to rate this shave a solid B despite the weeper on the first pass, but during the application of the Margaritas in the Arctic I noticed some spots that I thought were clean weren't. I also noticed a few more weepers starting up.

    Final score, B-

I travel tomorrow and will be staying in a different hotel, so I doubt I'll shave until Friday.

My last couple of shaves have come courtesy of my Schick G1, Stirling soaps and my RazoRock Plissoft Big Bruce. The G1 really does do a nice job, and rewards a light touch. I wish the handle had a little texture, as the Stirling has been super slick and I have had to fight to keep my hand from slipping a couple of times. All in all though, it's a winner. The Port Au Prince is a keeper. I find myself really liking earthy, even somewhat bitter scents in my soaps, and this delivers.

My Sayuri arrived today (Thanks, @mrchick) but unfortunately the mail service was not kind to it. The envelope was bent in my mailbox, as it was jammed full due to some other packages and the envelope was just rammed in. The metal is bent at the head to the point where it is torn and it will not hold the blade securely. I am not sure whether I will try and rig it up or if I will try and slide the blade into a different Shavette. I will come up with something, though.

Well thanks to the old "double dog dare" that @Drygulch threw down recently we'll see what I do with the next one that may be in that line. I'm not giving any more hints that that other than it will show up in MAYhem.

Rest assured, Mayhem is still on. And I have ordered an interesting Shavette that I have not seen before. It was really cheap and looked like good Mayhem fodder.

In Colorado it's generally legal to walk around with a pistol in an open holster and/or a rifle (think AR15) on a shoulder sling, so long as you don't threaten others or use the weapons to commit a crime. Gun law varies widely from state to state in the US.

In the USA, gun control means being able to hit your target.

Edit: FWIW - Pointing a gun at someone in public in Colorado can be regarded as felony assault, regardless of whether a shot was fired.
