A chill front is lasting in my area through next Tuesday(except for a warmish Thursday of this week). What does that mean? Winston is bringin' de soaps back out(well, really just one after the Sandalwood). You'll see as the week develops. ;)

I thought Arctique was a staple in the Ambassador's den in the first place.

I hope so. I'm really curious to compare it to my Glacials. The Cryogen was a debacle for me.

I have the Arctique aftershave. That's a menthol delicacy.

The Col. Conk Amber Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Bunny B-400 Cashmere synthetic brush. I did two passes the German OT Travel razor and Wilkinson Sword blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Tonight's shave was with a freshly honed and partially restored razor. I had a very nice 2 pass shave, that left me smooooth all over. Very nice razor. It did give me a tiny "SR Love Bite", not enough to worry about.

    Razor- J.H.Obold & Co.
Brush- Vintage Boar, unknown maker. I call it "Mighty Mite".
    Soap- ARKO/Avon Spicy
    Aftershave- Florida Water

interesting how you and I had big difference with Cryogen. The latest tin I got in and haven't used yet has like a 1/4" of menthol crystals on top of the soap and I thought the first tin they sent me was super cold. Still have around 1/4th of the original tub left but I'm thinking of using the new tub as a base again and make up custom blends of some type like I did with Lemon Lime Freeze.

    Arko Adjustable April!!!!!

    April 18

    Razor - Merkur 23c [Head] 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (6)[Face]
Blade - [IMG] (1) [Head] [IMG] (2) [Face]
Soap - Arko [Head] Tabac [Face]
Brush - VDH Boar [Head] BoS Omega 10066 [Face]
    Post - Alum

Tuesday is a long evening of shaving, well at least compared to the other nights. Head shave then face shave so I thought I'd just list it all for once. It's Arko Adjustable April so I kept the Arko for the head shave, as usual, but diverted to Tabac for the face shave. A nice diversion halfway through the month and besides, @RyX called Tabac Tuesday earlier and I thought he should have company.

The head shave was as always. Smooth sailing. The Astra SP right out of the wrapper is always flawless and almost makes the Heisenberg pass at the end useless. The face shave was the second night of the Merkur, Fatboy to 6 and it was smooth as well. Very smooth. Almost amazingly smooth. 6 seems to be my sweet spot on the Gillette adjustables and the blade did better than I ever thought it would a few months ago. The finish - well there's the difference between this blade and my preferred choices. It's DFS but not quite as close to BBS as I can get with some others. Seems like technique definitely makes the shaves similar in feel and function but the result still requires the blade to perform a certain way. I know the Merkur blade isn't as sharp as some I prefer so to finish a little shy of normal isn't really a shocker.

Back to the salt mine tomorrow with half day at work and the other half in meetings. Oh yay. I'm thrilled. Seriously. No, I mean it, can't wait.

Hi, Good Morning, great photos everyone. Here's my SOTD-

Today's razor is special to me. It was my father's. A 1952 Gillette Black Tip Super Speed. Lather was provided by a super lather combo of Proraso red soap, and Proraso red cream. Very luxurious. Post shave was of course my usual Nivea balm. Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve as splash. For cologne I combined 4711/Bulgari Extreme. This combination works well for me.
All in all I rate this shave a DFS. It was only a two pass shave. Have a great day all!
