I'm going to regret this, but I'm in. Who else is jumping off this bridge with me?

    I'm drawing a line here.

That might be a very lonely bridge. That said, is it bad that I am mulling over how that might actually work?

    Arko Adjustable April!!!!!

    April 18

    Razor - Merkur 23c [Head] 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (6)[Face]
    Blade - astra-superior-platinum.jpg (1) [Head] [IMG] (2) [Face]
Soap - Arko [Head] Tabac [Face]
Brush - VDH Boar [Head] BoS Omega 10066 [Face]
    Post - Alum

Tuesday is a long evening of shaving, well at least compared to the other nights. Head shave then face shave so I thought I'd just list it all for once. It's Arko Adjustable April so I kept the Arko for the head shave, as usual, but diverted to Tabac for the face shave. A nice diversion halfway through the month and besides, @RyX called Tabac Tuesday earlier and I thought he should have company.

The head shave was as always. Smooth sailing. The Astra SP right out of the wrapper is always flawless and almost makes the Heisenberg pass at the end useless. The face shave was the second night of the Merkur, Fatboy to 6 and it was smooth as well. Very smooth. Almost amazingly smooth. 6 seems to be my sweet spot on the Gillette adjustables and the blade did better than I ever thought it would a few months ago. The finish - well there's the difference between this blade and my preferred choices. It's DFS but not quite as close to BBS as I can get with some others. Seems like technique definitely makes the shaves similar in feel and function but the result still requires the blade to perform a certain way. I know the Merkur blade isn't as sharp as some I prefer so to finish a little shy of normal isn't really a shocker.

Back to the salt mine tomorrow with half day at work and the other half in meetings. Oh yay. I'm thrilled. Seriously. No, I mean it, can't wait.

Ok, clarify. Are we talking about a DE blade taped to a finger? That is what we're talking about right?

If we can work out a way to tape a DE to the index finger, and have both edges exposed, this could work. It would need to be rigid enough not to flex too much, and be securely fastened so it didn't move.

It could also put several of us in a hospital or mental institution, depending SWMBO's acceptance level that morning.

I am willing to tape a GEM blade to a finger and give it shot.

I can't figure out how to do multi directional passes with an SE blade. Its not like you can just flip your finger over. I need to noodle on this some more, because and SE blade would work way easier.

This has to be, in my opinion, the most difficult idea I've heard yet. It might need something in addition to the finger (piece of popsicle stick?) to act as a splint to make it work right from how I'm thinking it. It may also be the dumbest idea I've heard yet. Even for MAYhem, this one may be too far out there.

I'm in. Oh, come on, you knew I couldn't say no.

It could be epic. But if... and I mean IF... it is attempted, I am going one pass, WTG and calling it good. Or miraculously alive. If anyone goes multi-pass, I will bow to your advanced insanity.

    April 18 (Tuesday ) - evening - creams and non-Gillette DE

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 1 )
    Supply Provision synthetic brush
    Supply Provision Lost Provence cream
Alum and Supply Provision Lost Provence healing post shave balm

This is the second of my new Supply Provision creams. The scent is a mix of lavender, blue sage and basil. Nice.

The lather worked better tonight. For the first pass, I rubbed the cream into my whiskers so my face looked like I had rubbed an Arko stick over it, then I face lathered with a damp brush. Still not great lather but adequate. I think to do it this way, I need to use about twice as much cream as I did.

I then tried bowl lathering, using a small steel bowl instead of my too-slick horn quaich. I treated the cream like a sample - took a chunk and crushed it firmly into the bottom of the bowl in a thin paste, then worked it with the brush. That worked much better for me.

I did my usual passes and the Rockwell 6s gave me a fine BBS, with no irritation.

The balm then finished off a good shave. I really like the postshave feel of the Supply Provision tallow soap/cream, especially when topped off by the matching balms. The three scents are also pleasant summer countryside mixes with decent staying power. I can still pick up hints of the balm an hour after using it.

I'm thinking the same thing. SE would be a much better choice just for the rigidity alone. AC blade might be best for that BUT.....how to get all passes is the question. I'm thinking DE will be the only way. Still not spooked.

A truly hardcore and committed* Mayhem shaver would have his finger surgically altered to allow the blade to be implanted. Just saying...

*exactly where he should be committed and under what dosage of medication I would leave to competent medical professionals to determine.

My grampa was friends with him. I went to a barbecue at his ranch, or a ranch he was at or some such when I was about five. That is my closest brush to fame. Grampa rodeoed for quite a while after the war.

A 24mm Envy White would stuff that hole full. I will almost certainly go that route.
