From Samurai's publicist : Bama Samurai is not an avante garde photographer. He is a redneck with a camera and an annoying propensity for macro still still edge clipping surrealistic hyper focus color filter abuse. He stole it all, like any good artist, from @HolyRollah. But unlike Kevin, Samurai doesn't understand discretion, subtlety or taste. You should see the settings on his guitar pedal board...truly amateur and gimmicky. But, lest we digress, we'll tell him that you are obviously captivated and on the path to shavette, and we're sure he'll be delighted! He says "Carry on."
April 19 - Razorock Classic Merkur 34C Astra SP (Day 4) Dark Chocolate (Jr #148) DIY PSO Razorock Classic alum/Thayers/Nivea After my first experiences with Razorock, I was anxious to try another one form the pass around box. this time it was the Classic scent. I have no idea which version or year this soap is from other than to say the container has a snap on lid and is sloped like a flying saucer on top and bottom. Form the first opening of the tub the wonderful aroma of Almonds and Marzipan emanated. I must say that this scent is nice and strong. I felt like fresh baked almond cookies were being made. Great memories of holidays gone by resulted and all the good times had were recalled. Suffice it to say, this soap's scent is very pleasing to me. Lathering int was very easy and this time I was able to get a denser slicker lather than I did with XXX. Shine, retention, hydraulic effort and glide/slickness were all perfect and better than yesterday's. I was very pleased with this lather to say the least. I also was able to make enough lather for about 6 passes. I ended up doing 4 passes today with just a little touch up. Oddly enough, I required less touch up today than usual. I spent some time last night reevaluyating the beard growth on my jawline and lower neck. I was wondering iof my irritation with the Astra SP was being caused by improper direction. I tend to need a WTG followed by a XTG in order to even contemplate an ATG pass. the neck and jawline on me is running from the midline of the neck straight towards the back of my neck sort of sideways. this is true until the hair crosses just above the jawline where it is growing from my cheeks/eye socket down and back. With my new found focus and 'change in direction' I found that the amount of irritation was again lower on my neck such that the alum just barely was warm. This could also be due to the blade being worn a bit more but I am hopeful technique is more causative. In all, I am grateful for my time with the pass around box and having experienced several soap that I otherwise never would have. As we speak, I am readying an order for several of the Razorock soaps. Of course, this is not including the Menthol and all the wonderful soaps from Stirling tomorrow. these two soap companies will make up the primary soaps of my den. I must say I hate you all for making me become so passionate about shaving soaps. All of your great reviews, experiences and feedback has brought me here and I only started wet shaving this past Dec '16. Thanks for adding to my fun in this hobby and changing shaving from a chore to a pleasant morning experience. I can only imagine how many more I will want to add when I finally get to try more of the sample from RT66 and Caties Bubbles and so many other wonderful soaps in the pass around box. Wishing you all a pleasant and enjoyable shaving experience.
That's why I am frugal, to afford all this stuff! Besides, I never said that I was going to use too much on each shave I just will have a lot to choose from which pea to almond sized sample will get used each day.
It's fantastic! The soap washed off clean and was hydrating. The AS is not sticky and the scent is still going strong after 7 hours. I put it right up there with other top shelf brands; B&M, Stirling, Dr Jon's, etc. I don't need more software however I'm getting more from him.
Bama san, i grew up as a provinceboy. But, for a couple of years, i took upon photography as a hobby and read 4-5 books for newbies. So i learnt the basics. I don't remember half of that today. Nobody is born knowing and redneck means nothing to me. Anyone can make a pretty picture. There are just some "basic" rules, to make any picture prettier. I didn't mean to offend or anything. I have various interests myself and this isn't my first forum. It's just my 1st shaving forum. But in all forums, i try to pick whatever i can from the others. And i improve myself. That's all. For example, i learnt to build my computers. Every time i upgraded, i went to a computer forum to update my knowledge about the new parts that i would use. At the end, i usually end up well regarded in the specific computer architecture that i use and newbies ask me for help. I just grab whatever i can from the "regulars" and absorb them. Then i fall behind for some years with new architectures i don't use. When i upgrade again, i repeat for the new architecture and become "expert" for a while again. And so on. And i am amateur too both in photography and computers and other things. But i don't let anything drop in a forum, that might be of use to me, from those with more experience than me and i remember what they say. You can learn a lot from others in a forum. @clint64 is a very good teacher in here for photographic tips. I am not sure also if @Douglas Carey is the "usual suspect" for the good outdoors photos. But based on his last one, he is to be watched. A good photo, has a clear subject and "balance". And not many clipped things that aren't just "background noise". Me on the path to shavette? On the contrary, my last purchase only means one thing: Consolidation of equipment.
I found the observation deck to be a lot of fun. There were some great views, and watching people decide to go on the glass floor balconies was entertaining. Sounds like a great trip!
At the beginning of the year my soap inventory had ballooned to over 20 soaps which I found to be entirely too many. I've given some away and working to use up some of the others. I've had a few as 2 and and high as 22 at a time. For me the sweet spot is 10-12 soaps. At that spot I have enough variety and always have some that will be finished soon allowing me too add new things to try. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know you were joking. But there are a lot of people (to include many foreigners) who actually do think it. It is an argument that comes up anytime people discuss gun rights. But there is a right way and wrong to joke about guns. The right way is to clean your firearms when your daughter's date picks her up for the first time and she introduces him. Alternatively you can mention your collection, that you have a shovel, and a lot of empty land out back. The wrong way is to casually suggest people shoot each other over an argument. As for the rest, you remove X the chances of X being used/abused goes down. The question is at what level is having X acceptable? For all the negative news that gets reported, the number of guns used in crimes is less than like .001% of all guns in the USA. All the people who die from firearms in the USA (negligence, justified, and murder) is also like less than .001% of the population. Ridiculously small numbers. And your lack of knowledge continues when you say the burglar carries because the home owner has one. Last stat I found says only 12% are armed, and I doubt it is because they think the homeowner is armed. And I am going to stop here, because it verges on the line of politics if I haven't crossed it already.
For perspective, it is statistically more likely than an American will die in a car crash than a firearm incident.
It is also statistically greater to pass out from laughing too from following this thread than any other!
Guilty as charged. Like @Keithmax often says, I load soaps like they owe me money and are 30 days past due
