I just saw a listing for a Pocket Edition with a $500 starting bid. Check out the description:

Razor was used by Capt. Samuel G. Harding in early 1900's. He was a famous New England Sea Captain. He used it while aboard his sailing days. Very good condition. No rust. Still has velvet liner.

Perhaps the seller was standing right next to the good Captain while he shaved to confirm this? :happy102

Had to revive this thread for this guy:

"Up for auction is a Vintage "GILLETTE" double edge adjustable safety razor in excellent used condition."
"Works correctly with no breaks or missing parts. Could use a little cleaning and polishing."

I wasnt aware that it was even possible to break that part off. It be a good way to teach a noob how to use a light grip and only grip it with 2 fingers though.

Funny. I think people will try to sell anything they can on ebay.

Three recent auctions that annoyed me:

One razor listed in "great shape" - asked for more pics and saw that one of the safety bars was cracked. Can't imagine that would feel good on your face.

Another razor listed with pics take from five feet away. Asked for more pics and the seller wouldn't give them, then admitted the razor in the auction pic was a different one from the one listed.

Another razor listed with a low opening bid, but the seller didn't list the shipping costs. Asked seller about shipping costs, wanted $17.50 to ship from Canada to the USA.

Okay, I gotta throw this one out:

This is a vintage Ever Ready razor kit in silver metal case. Blue, white, & silver B.P.O.L. emblem on lid. Red velvet lining, Ever Ready emblem with bearded man shaving on inside lid. Three piece kit has one piece missing, other 2 pieces I cannot identify. Case closed measures 3x3 inches. Otherwise kept in great condition!

    Ehhh....you don't need that piece! :happy102

  9. I bet the missing piece is a portable candelabra. That would make sense considering the matchbox and the salt and pepper shakers.

Add a little romance to your MREs!

I remember that recently someone tried to sell Belgium (yes, the country) on eBay.

hey, those gillette "matchboxes" actually work with matches if you have the kitchen strike anywhere ones.

im pretty sure thats what they doubled as, but i could be wrong.

On the subject of Belgium; the French and the Flemmish always make a point of doing things opposite ways!

Everyone thinks MRE is an Acronym for Meals Ready to Eat; truth is the guy working at the factory didn't know how to spell Mystery because that's what's inside!

Well, the 1930's date isnt entirely his fault. J is for both 1939 and 1964. Both years list a TTO. Without much knowledge of razors, it would be easy to confuse.

You gotta love the Gillette 195 with a BIN of something like $1100.00!!! I'm pretty sure the listing is older than I am!
