April 20 Gillette Old Type w Lord Platinum (3) TGN Synthetic/Mahogany Handle Stirling Gin and Tonic SS Thayers Unscented Stirling Mentholated Balm Day 15 of the Canadian Old Type focus, day 3 with the Lord Platinum. Another fine 3+ pass shave this morning. With Spring (Ok, maybe not Spring, but at least above freezing...) in the air, the Gin and Tonic produced a great, nicely scented lather and the Lord Platinum was smooth and sharp enough on its third day. Missed a little on the jawline and I didn't go ATG on the neck. Finished with some mentholated balm and am enjoying this DFS. Have a great day all!
Day 25 of 30 days of Henckel straights I did a single pass shave on most of my face and a double pass on my neck today using the smaller 4/8 round toe. I got a decent, if imperfect shave. Some areas are very smooth and some could use another pass. However, I look like I have shaved, which was all I was looking for today. 20 April 2017 Blade/Soap Focus Shave As I have been jonesing for Bay Rum, Route 66 "Rum Runner" was the soap of choice this morning. JR#161 is continuing to make a bid to be my daily driver. It whipped the 66 into a very nice slick lather. The VDH/Wilkinson delivered it's best WWS so far. 2.5 passes and no weepers. Of course tomorrow is it's last shave and it goes to the bench as the '52 Super Speed takes over Sunday. I splashed on some VIBR and headed into work. Now, I have a question for the soap guru's out there. I have two soaps with wide mouths( Route 66 and Razorock) which with about one minute of swirling I can get a pretty decent lather when I go to my bowl. I have three with small mouths(Cella and Catie's Bubbles) that I swirl for the same one minute and I do not get the same result. Do I have to swirl longer to get the same result as the wider opening? I'm using the same amount of water. I'm puzzled
Thank you, Clint! I don't use the E3 too much. I find I prefer the G over the E, and since I have two G's, they tend to see more action.
