    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20170422_225122.jpg

    Prep: Musgo Real Orange Amber
    Razor: Maggard Slant
    Blade: Pol-Silver Iridium
    Brush: Maggard 24mm synthetic
    Soap: Soap Smooth Pumpkin
    Post: Van Yulay Colonia

Sorry for the blurry picture, didn't realize it was that bad until I went to post it. Anyways, very nice scent from the SS Pumpkin and it made a decent lather. Got a few nicks and was not the closest shave, but an enjoyable experience nonetheless. Finished up with some Colonia splash. Hope everyone had a great shave!

    Arko Adjustable April!!!!!

    April 22

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - WCS Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Third and final shave on the Derby Premium. Of course the Slim is wide open and ready to go and the synthetic and Arko are moving mountains of lather into place. The blade gave a fantastic shave last night and the only thing that could wreck it is if the Slim is too aggressive at this point.

Common wisdom says a mild blade needs an aggressive razor to perform at its best. After two passes and touch ups I can confirm that to a point. Definitely a smooth shave again. The alum was just a bit on the warm side for the first time with this blade and the finish, while a very high level DFS, was not quite as nice as last night. I'd say that perhaps a 7 or 8 would have been a better max for this blade. Still, can't and won't complain at all. The Derby Premium with whatever "premium Swedish steel" is, was a very good and workable blade for all three shaves. I'll switch over to the Derby Extra tomorrow to see if I can feel any difference between blades over three shaves.

Just 8 days left in April....and......Arko Adjustable April brings.........MAYhem!!!!! One part of that is sitting in front of me right now.....wanna peek? Here you go!

    Hey Friends,

here is my Sunday shave before going to a Soccer Match (Schalke 04 vs. RB Leipzig)

Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip // Blade: GEM Stainless // Soap: Figaro Noir // Brush: Markus Herber Translucent // Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso mixed with T.N. Dickinson´s Witch Hazel

A nice shave but the blade was DEAD!!! It was pulling and tugging so the shave was not that enjoyable as it should have been with a fresh blade. Nevertheless the soap performed well and the brush did a good job. Just the right amount of Gel-like tips and backbone.

Now i will make myself ready for my Club (Schalke 04). Hope they will win. It would be very important...let´s keep the fingers crossed.

Enjoy your shaves, have a good time and take care.

    Greetings
    Thorsten

Mastro Livi Inox "Grifone", 9/8 Full Hollow, Livi Snake Point, Blue Buckeye

Grifone Shave! This is a straight razor Mastro Livi made for me quite a long time, it was more or less the period in which he released Grifetto razor and, as the steel for this blade is the very same used for Grifetto although the size is bigger than it - it is a 9/8 - we called this razor "Grifone" (Big Gryphon). It has a magnificent velvety touch and a wonderful shaving performance, leaving behind the best BBS shave. I also used a Mastro Livi Bristle shave brush, confirming the superior quality of the brushes he makes, and one of the best Italian shaving cream made by "Antica Barbieria Colla" of Milan. I also used L'Erbolario's Vetiver and Witch Hazel lotion, an alcohol-free aftershave, and I admit I like alcohol based lotions better. They simply are more effective, at least in my skin.
    • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
    • Soap: Antica Barbieria Colla Almond Oil Shaving Cream
    • Brush: Mastro Livi Bristle, Padouk, 26mm Knot
    • Bowl: Old Barber Bowl
    • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
    • Razor: Mastro Livi Inox "Grifone", 9/8 Full Hollow, Livi Snake Point, Blue Buckeye
    • Post-Shave: Alum Block
    • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
    • After Shave: L'Erbolario Vetiver and Witch Hazel After Shave Lotion

A happy wife is indeed a happy life!

My wife was standing near me while I was lathering up with the Frozen Cranberry soap and I noticed the loving smile she had on her beautiful face. She said she could smell the cranberry/sangria scent and she thought it's so nice. I certainly agree with her on that. I think the menthol effect may even be a little stronger than from the Krampert's Frostbite, which is also made by Soap Smooth and the skincare is really good. The Lucky Tiger, together with the gorgeously-scented Fougere Santal aftershave from Reef Point with a super-smooth face and a good, cool feeling. I also got a couple of big kisses from the wife! :happy088: :happy088:

Have a beautiful Sunday, my friends! :)
