You've come a long way with the SR shaves. I am about to get a new Omega boar brush and I am not all sure I want to go through the break in process again. I like boar brushes but just don't love them.

She already thinks I am dumb as a fence post some days. Some of these stunts would just confirm her thoughts or worse.

I'd enjoy seeing your girlfriend post your MAYhem shave in her own words. That would be a fun read. [IMG]

I picked up a NOS Gillette New Short Comb last year. It still had the original cardboard insert between the top and bottom head plates. I've not used it yet, so I'll run with that during most of May. I have some Trac II fun planned for the end of May.

Looking forward to another informative, amusing and interesting month filled with stupid human tricks! I'll be trying out some new blades, some new soaps, and some new razors, but will try to follow the ways of @Bama Samurai and not mix it up too much so as to keep the learning flowing. If you can't shave with peanut butter and learn something from it, what was the point? Yeah OK, I didn't buy that either, but I tried to post it with a straight face. Let the mayhem begin!

Well, I'm in but will probably be light on the shenanigans. Definitely no Marvy products this MayHEM.

For the most part, I'm just planning on spending some time with razors that haven't gotten a lot of play in recent months. I'm considering either going chronologically or doing a series of mini focuses by type (Gem, Tech, SuperSpeed, etc.). I'll decide on that later today.

Along the way, though, I do want to try a couple of "interesting" blades, including a Gem-style blade which is sold as a hair shaper blade and bears the dreaded words "Made In China".

Since this is actually April 30 and I posted this to last month's thread, which it would appear everyone has all but abandoned in anticipation of Mayhem train wrecks. Just throwing it out there in this thread for those who missed it.
Here is the link for anyone interested enough to chime in http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/blade-reviews-thread-read-the-rules-before-posting.55588/

Magic at $12 and Parker SRX at $22 are both very good options.

@MR41 Sally Beauty Supply for the magic and Shark blades.

Count me in for May! I have a mess of new stuff to exercise this month. I will focus someday, honest I will. ;)

While we are talking Shavettes and straights, the new Dovo may come into play this month. I bought it because of the opinion thrown out there that it's easier to learn a straight than a shavette. Not sure if I will find maintenance, honing and stropping to be an interesting rabbit trail, or a total PITA, so the Shavette has some potential appeal to me. I also don't know if either will be embraced for more than a couple shaves. Thoughts by those who know more than me about this (i.e. virtually everyone except shavette fu) are welcome.

From my experience, I'd say it's different. Straights have different grinds. A wedge is a different shave from a full hollow. Shavettes take different types of replaceable blades and have more or less blade exposure. When the heel and toe of a shavette blade are muted the motion of shaving is like a straight and less likely to stab.
Someone should set you up with a shavette so you can contrast & compare.

You are the man, Rick! As my thanks, I will try to provide plausible deniability for you for any MAYhem mishaps which may be met with disdain, wrath, or "the look" from my wife.
