Water is cold and high this year. It will run off and the depth will decrease with warm weather if we get some this year. It was very dry last year and this portion of the river was very low.
Hopefully this link works. It is best watched on "mute" as the soundtrack just has some hamburger propaganda that nobody really cares about which really confuses the clear intent of the videographer. The film is a cautionary tale and a very graphic representation of what a redhead can do to completely scuttle a perfectly good round of mayhem. Enjoy...
First shave of MAYhem. My odd little MIR shavette and some good ol' Godrej cream. I actually really like the Godrej cream, and it has become my go-to when I am in a hurry. Nice fresh scent, copious lather, and just all around refreshing. The MIR is a bit claustrophobic to shave with because the way you have to handle it obliterates some of your visibility when shaving. That said, I kept to short, intentional movements and ended up with very favorable results. Head shave was a Feather blade in my '56 Super Speed. That may be my favorite razor/blade combo yet. It is entirely effortless and comfortable. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Naw, it was just begging to be said in such a manner. besides, I could never bow out on family! I too much enjoy being apart of all this, even if, for the stunts, just a spectator. My techniques are enough MAYhem for me right now. Still searching for a blade and trying everything under the sun and tuning technique but doing it in a manner that will unlikely succeed. That's MAYhem enough for now.
So I am going back to my normal soap and aftershave rotation, and hope I can get through most of them this month. I will be using my Envy White Badger Brush for most of the shaves, with an appearance of a recently restored vintage brush. I only get to shave every other day, or my face gets very irritated. We wouldn’t want anything to cause it to be irritated as we go through this month’s stupidity. So here is the plan. Subject to change if anything interesting shows up in the mail. Mayhem Plan 4/29 Tape and Rolls Blade- Done. Not a success, but done. 5/2 DEvette 5/4 Safe Shave- Filarmonica Medallon Taurino Straight 5/6 Metal Disposable 5/8 MD Barber Shavette with No Handle 5/10 Chinese DE with Blade from @stingraysrock 5/12 Chinese DE with Russian Blade 5/14 Safe Shave- Heritage Shave, Great, Great Grandfather’s Razor, hone, strop, and brush 5/16 DEvette 5/18 CJB Pain Stick with Dorco blade 5/20 Pretty Pink Disposable Kamisori 5/22 Round 2 with Metal Disposable 5/24 Safe Shave- Genco with Rosewood Scales straight 5/27 Tape, small piece of Popsicle stick, and DE blade 5/30 Mongoose with Dorco Blade What’s the worst that could happen?
This week is just going to be an embarrassment of riches, thanks largely in part to the 30 day crew. First, Charlie @wristwatchb sent me "a few Russian and Japanese blades to try out". By this, hhe apparently meant enough blades to take me well into 2018. Then Rick @RyX in response to a small pif I sent him, reciprocated with 6 soap samples, a shavette for MAYhem, and strop, and a piece of cypress for my Dad to turn into another custom handle. (Apparently he couldn't fit a small automobile, chest of pirate treasure, and 70" flat screen TV in the box, which I'm sure disappointed him to no end.) He wouldn't even let me pay for shipping. Next my first Gem and second birth year slim (which I bought for a song because they looked a bit crusty online and minimal information was available about them) arrived today. Although the pics make them look a bit questionable, it's all superficial. A quick soak in shower cleaner and a quick toothbrush polish will have them gleaming like the day they were made. Here's the before. I'll post pics of after. Next, I've got the inbound soap pass around box along with an incoming Gillette new and a Delta Echo as well. As a result, I will have more blades, soap samples, and razors of all types than will be possible to try in one month. Ridiculous. Since I just bought a massive lot of soaps brushes etc. from a guy who was liquidating his den, and I only plan to keep a small percentage of it, mayhem will be accentuated this month by a few random giveaways sent out at reciprocal 30 DC pricing. Stay tuned.
So May is the month of my birthday. And for my birthday I want to get a straight razor and give it a go. So to do that, I've been using the Schick E3. So this month I'll continue with that. My focus will be to start learning how to shave with my left hand. So for tonight's shave... - Schick E3 Injector with Schick Blade - Maggard's 24mm Synthetic Brush - Marina Cottage Soap Southern Gentleman - Thayer's Witch Hazel for touch up passes - And the elixar of life, TSD Energy Aftershave Milk So tonight's shave was simple. First time trying to shave with left hand on the left side of my face, and boy was that interesting. No nicks, cuts, or weepers so I'm proud of myself. Getting the angle ride in the mirror was certainly interesting though. I did get a small nick on my first pass, but a second pass and touch ups it was gone. A decent shave. Nothing fancy, but I'm satisfied.
Pure focused Genius. All that is ok as long as it is just for the Mayhem.. beyond that molesting injector and SE razors like that is against the law .... or should be. I ain't skeered...bring it on... I am also not going too crazy.. but it's not because I am skeered.... "blank stare" She use to be a lot cuter as I recall.
Great idea for a focus. I did the same thing and it's a big help to be able to use your off hand with a straight. It was actually easier for me to close my eyes and ignore the mirror in the beginning. The mirror really screwed me up at first too Have fun!
