I really like mine as well. I was concerned the DO1 2 band would have too much scritch but happily that has not been the case. Surprisingly the knot is not a lather hog at all. The handle is very comfortable as well. So I can say I really like my "Rowl"

I love the kid shots! Being a dad is the most rewarding job in the world! I'm guessing this is your first? Educated guess as in my family the other child not being in the photo could have serious repercussions amongst the girls. Enjoy it, it goes at light speed, Andrew

The house is 75 years old, hasn't ever flooded inside. My yard is a little soggier than usual, but that's life at 15 feet above sea level.

OK now back to shaving. Day two of the mystery shave samples revealed a cream that is tan in color took twice as long to lather as normal, but actually produced a fantastic thick creamy lather and a fantastic smooth, close shave using my "go to" equipment. Checking the sample list after the shave, revealed it was Proraso red. Again, great lather & shave, but not enough scent for me to buy a tub and put it in rotation. Maybe it's me, but I think the red performed much better than the white. Any others have this same impression? Maybe I just had a particularly good or bad lather day on one, but typically my lathers are pretty consistent.

Between Red, White, & Green (C.O.Bigelow) that's the one I've used the least. Not avoiding, just one of my latest soaps. I think I should do a number of comparison focus shaves to give an informed response! Thank you for the inspiration Randy. ;)

Representative shavy awards posted. Actual awards may change or vary from this picture, but these are the kind of "fabulous prizes" that our winners can expect to receive.

I won't continue to ramble on about this forever in this thread, but just I want everybody to know what's going on, and get everyone who wants to participate in the other thread to join in. The more the merrier!

That's what I'm here for, Rick. To inspire others. That's what I tell myself anyway, but I had no idea it might actually work or lead to a real life shave epiphany like you had. ;)Looking forward to hearing your review.
In related shaving news, my wife smelled the Tabac sample and said "it smells like old man to me". I guess that's what people mean by a "polarizing scent". I've never really paid attention or gotten up close enough to an old man to really verify her theory, but I took this as a sign that it probably wouldn't be a good idea to lather it up and try it out at my house unless it magically changes it scent after lathered. This is a double bummer as the shave lot I bought, unbeknownst to me, had a big stick of Tabac in it. The silver lining here is that it will go to a lucky Shavy award winner who will appreciate it.

So I love the smell of citrus. Eating it not so much. But in a drink with some rum or vodka, delicious! Tonight's shave turned out to be a citrus shave.

    - Schick E3 Injector
    - Maggard's 24mm Synthetic Brush
    - Maggard's Sweet Orange Pre-Shave Oil
    - Dr. Jon's Hydra Shaving Soap
    - Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel
    - TSD's Energy After-Shave Milk

The Dr. Jon's has similar ingredients to TSD's Energy scent, but with the Dr. Jon's I think the lime is more at the front. Still a great scent. Easily whipped up some lather with my trusty synthetic brush. Two efficient passes with the Schick E3, followed by some touch ups with that magical lemon scented witch hazel. No nicks, cuts, weepers. The alum test was 95% irritation free. Another splash of some witch hazel on the face, and after it dried that wonderful, lovely, magical, TSD Energy aftershave milk.

I did shave partly with the left hand, and was so so. Didn't cut myself, and got most of the whiskers. I did use my right to touch up a bit. Not BBS, I won't say DFS, but overall I'm going to be generous and grade this shave an A-.

Next time you pass a check out register with those impulse items, look for Certs Mixed Fruit breath mints. That's what I get from Tabak. It's a really good lathering soap. Most soap scents don't last long after you rinse it off.
I get the not my style thing. I've tried several Savory scented soaps, and a number of Bay Rum products. Performance may be acceptable, but if the scent isn't - no go.

I don't get certs or fruit at all. I'm gonna go upstairs and lather that bad boy up and see what it smells like to me. Sometimes when lathered a scent can change slightly so I'll give it a go. Still unlikely to be a keeper if my wife thinks whatever the scent is smells like an old man, but now I'm intrigued.

It's a very good soap, IMO. If you like it and your Bride doesn't, consider keeping it for your business travel kit. Shave sticks travel well. Just a thought.
