Give the CH2 to Logan for a couple of hours. I'm sure he'll break it in well enough for you to use. :)

    Gillette Rubie (day 1)
    Dark Chocolate (JR #148)
    DIY PSO
    Stirling Weekend in Malibu
    Alum/Thayers/Nivea

Two firsts today, Stirling Weekend In Malibu soap and a Gillette Rubie blade.

Stirling never seems to disappoint. Weekend in Malibu was another success for me. I truly enjoy the warm vanilla and citrusy floral scent it produces. Stirling call the scent ,"With a wonderful mixture of citrus, vanilla, sandalwood, and lily of the valley, this scent is a great balance of freshness and musk." . For me, it perfectly describes an image of the color of rich blue. Why?

It took me a moment but I think I figured it out. My first car was a '73 Olds 98. It was a rich dark blue color. That car was longer than anything I have ever saw including some boats. That might be why many nicknamed it the land yacht. Googling yielded that it was 230.3 inches (19.2 ft) stem-to-stern. I am a little over 6' tall. I use to lay down on the hood of the car on nice days just to catch some sun ... without my legs hanging off. I could drop a 10 speed bike in the trunk without removing a wheel. The car had 2 bench seat that often could accommodate 8 people without discomfort. Even with huge 4 doors, the front and rear side windows lacked a division between them. Opening them all up allowed you to bask in fresh air and feel almost like a convertible. Power, it never lacked in. Fuel could never be enough. The Rocket 455 with 4 barrel carbs produced a ton of power and torque. On goosing the pedal, the car would rock violently to the side as if it lifted a leg. Its long throw suspension and 225/70R15 tires zoomed over any speed bump as if it was mere pebbles in the road. Also, it was my beloved Uncle's car since new and I cherished every ride I had in it growing up. I got it in 1989 and it begun to rust and the chrome had seen better days and the repaint job was coming off in every wash and wax I lovingly gave it.

It is these warm memories of cruising in the Olds that Weekend in Malibu bring to mind. It is that warm, rich Blue color of that Oldsmobile and bright chrome that come to mind when I smell that soap. the scent was awesome and memory inspiring and of course, yielded the best of lather.

The Rubie performed better than what I expected. So many reports that it is a poor blade were not experienced here. I was pretty smooth and in 3.25 pass resulted in a DFS+ with some alum burn which quickly went away.

    In all, a great shave.

Although not mine, this is the car of which I speak.

@Boojum1 - thanks! Definitely making the most of it!

Your humor never really branches out much, huh?

Thank you. Cloudwatching and stargazing are my fave things to do outside in the evenings, and I thought the colors in that sky were like a Van Gogh painting (vice verse really), and worth a share with the crew.

    RE: Magic Salon Razor

    That's real grit.

    1. Skin stretch, opposing the bevel, like a Shaolin master.
    2. Two-spine width attack angle
    3. Wetter lather is better.
    4. Set the blade on your skin slowly
    5. Short and deliberate strokes

It takes a bit, but you'll get it. :)

    And amen for that!

    That's it.

Love your cruise mobile. I had one like this in college, although mine had less shine and more character.

Brut is also very similar to Skin Bracer and Clubman. "Barber Shop Product" is the scent genre, in my mind.

    It's a very nice razor—and a real beauty for a first-time SR shave. Round point a plus!

Hmm, I don't get the "Barber Shop" feel from Brut.

Decided to toss the TSD Lanolin Soap w/Russian Leather. I'm sure I'll get another TSD soap, though.
