This morning's shave was The same Astra, the same slim on four, wild West/razorock synth brush, and a brand-new tub of razorock tobacco. Like all of the razorock soaps I've tried so far, with the exception of the essence of lime, the scents just aren't strong enough for me. Great lather, I just like the fragrance to smack me upside the head a bit, rather than be really subtle. As for the shave, it was probably the closest, smoothest I've had to date.

One notable exception to this rule is the Tabac. I whipped up a lather with this morning, after my shave. Although I don't have the same "old man" associations my wife does (I'm guessing one of her grandfather's friends must've smelled that way or something), the smell just isn't up my alley.

Speaking of this, I'm going to be trying lots of soaps, razors, etc. this month in order to skim off those that are not in my top 10 percent, to build up the potential prize opportunities for Shavy winners. This may end up delaying my attempts with the Straight and the Shavette a bit. Having seen some of the stunts around here already, I feel pretty good just participating in the Japanese pain stick event, but I'm not sure that trying a straight razor or shavette really qualifies as MAYhem around here, since so many guys can pull this off in their sleep. Frankly, I'm planning on trying both of these and giving it some time and effort to see if it's for me, whether it is in May or not.

I'm stoked about it! The ONLY down side...it is due in on Saturday, the day we are to use the MAYhem shavettes. So I am going to have to wait until Sunday to use it.

When I was a poor graduate student I bought a 1972 Mercury Marquis Brougham for $300. I thin it got between 8 -9 mpg. I drove for almost 2 years and then scarped it for $300. We called it the beast. Mine was poop brown like the pic but mine was a dull poop brown and the top did not look that good either.

Children's day shave. It is a holiday today in Korea, Children's day, so no work today.... really TGIF.

Today I tried something new, a super lather with AoS tallow and Castle Forbes. Both are top performers but together, WOW. Today's razor is Wade & Butcher, it's first shave after being touched up on a Shapton Glass 16k.

After the first stroke with the razor I knew an epic shave was in reach if I could avoid an operator error. The edge was very smooth and very sharp. Four passes and no operator errors. Finished with an epic shave.

There is a reason for that lack of options...no need for more. Lol

    Staple smaple....

I know I missed quoting some of you. Hard to do a giant multi quote for the 400 pages y'all ran up while I was sleeping. So got up worked through the stivette shave and at work. I will catch up later. Lol. Not as groovy as the finger blade shave but it was fun to do!!

You got that high a mileage! Lucky. The Olds 98 had a 22 gallon tank. When I hit the gas you could see the needle drop as if I had a leak in the tank. I drove it 5 miles to Hofstra and home and again to Roosevelt Field for work and I was lucky if I made it a week. Then again, gas was only 99 cents a gallon to $1 and change so it wasn't as bad as today.

That's a sweet ride. My best friend's dad bought a Marquis because he could flop down in the middle of the back seat and his butt couldn't feel the drivetrain "hump." No other car passed the test. True story.

My buddy and I would go out, and
I always liked driving it. Sorta reminded me of flying a 757, only the ride was more cushy...and you had to take it to the airport if you wanted to turn it around. :)

I salute you. Not even a phone call can throw of your game
How would you rate the aggressiveness of that blade in this razor? What was the blade clearance? Did you shim the blade? Was that warm water or cold? I noticed that you were skin stretching. Do you dry your finger tips with alum prior to shaving? So much to learn to reach your skill level
    Nicely done!

Safe shave! Filarmonica 8/8, Envy White 24mm, and a new soap and aftershave set. First PAA soap, SunDown. It's a clone of Gillette Sun Up, which I also used this morning. Face is a little tender from the last two shaves, so I only did three passes and no touch ups, and didn't chase. Solid DFS.
