Should anyone feel it necessary to post those photos, please use the *spoiler* feature to let us emphathic types avoid viewing said battle wounds. I avoid that "Does this look infected..." thread, too.
Agreed. Keep in mind the category is named worst results, not worst injury. The worst results could mean lots of things that don't necessarily draw blood. Shave results described as "the alum was hot like an attic in Phoenix in the summer hot" would be a perfect example of bad results without necessarily involving gore, injury, or the need for immediate medical attention. The Academy has no stomach to weed through pictures that look like they came from a crime scene.
I did not use the spoiler on my video in the other thread. Not a lot of blood though if you watch it.
I do not know how to use the *spoiler* feature. Can someone tell me how or point me to a thread does. Sent from my phone using some app
Congrats to @wchnu for his Shavy nomination. This winning combination of an an astoundingly stupid idea, combined with the surprisingly outstanding results of a decent shave are going to be beat in this category! The Academy would also like to recognize @Drygulch with nominations in several other categories, as a result of his trailblazing efforts with his ill advised finger shave stunt. Although a "multiple category winner is unlikely (although still possible), the Academy would be remiss in not rewarding this act of stupidity, er, we mean, bravery without multiple category nominations. Congratulations to you both for your both contribution to the field and for setting the bar high. Keep the categories, and nominations, coming guys! Current List of Nominations (always updated on the first page): Best Pre Mayhem Motivational Act Nominees: @jtspartan for his 30DC brushmaking project The Shavy Goes to: @jtspartan Most Ill Advised MAYhem Idea of 2017 Nominees: @Drygulch , for his attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave Most Successful Shave with the Item Least Suitable for Shaving Nominees: @wchnu for his 2 pass shave with a blade epoxied to a twig @Drygulch , for his attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave Worst MAYhem Shave Results Nominees: @Drygulch , for his attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave Worst Shave With a Japanese Pain Stick Nominees: You Know Who You Are Evil Genius Award Nominees: @Keithmax for his "doghouse misdirection scheme"
I just placed an order from Dirty Deeds Soaps for 15 one oz pucks of soap, in scents of Bay Rum and Lime, Green Tweed, Tobacco, Vanilla and Sandalwood, and Arroyo Cactus. Up to ten potential Shavy Awards. (Yes I am keeping one of each.) I am also proposing a new category. "What's the Worst That Could Happen?" This category will recognize those that overcome their completely reasonable and well founded fears of open bladed shaving devices. In order to be eligible, you have to have never shaved with a Shavette, DEvette, Open Wedge SE, Straight, or creatively engineered facsimile of one; you also have to do a shave with one during Mayhem, and post the shave on the 30DC thread. That's it.
Great suggestion! The second is noted and appreciated, but the Academy is already all over this suggestion like "white on rice". The category has been added to the main board. Also, appreciated but not necessary is the offer to stock up the prize cache with some cookies. While more contributions mean more potential awesome prizes for the Shavy recipients, the original idea of the awards was for the Academy to give back to the community. As such, there is absolutely no need for anyone to feel compelled pitch in unless the awards categories skyrocket to epic proportion (which is quite a ways off). Having said that,@Drygulch or any others who do feel so compelled may feel free to PM me with what you want listed on the board with your name beside it, and I'll add it to the list. As such, you will also be responsible for distributing those Shavy Awards if they are chosen. (If you live outside the continental US and need to send it to me to avoid postal delays that is also an option.) I have a number of award prizes planned, but won't be adding my list of items until the end of the month, as I'll be doing some trading in and out of the den to try and improve the prize cache before May closes out.
I propose a category "Living on the MILD side" for which I will offer a Schick Krona as a prize. I would also nominate Charlie @wristwatchb May 2017 30 Day Rule/Focus Pix & Discussion
Help me out here. Glad to add the category, and nomination, but what is the premise for being nominated for or winning this award? Also, what shaving act are you referencing to in nominating @wristwatchb . Also, thanks for the offer to put up a specific prize for a specific award - another shavy first - I just "need the deets" to make it happen.
The Academy likes to spread around the awards, so a sweep is unlikely. However it would remiss in not nominating @Drygulch for the epic finger shave in several categories.
In other news, there are not nearly enough categories yet. We need more catgory suggestions, and more nominations folks. I've got plenty of prizes to give away; keep em coming!
New Shavy Categories and Nominees added today with more to come! Congrats to the new nominees: MAYhem Trailblazer Award (i.e. most significant contribution to the field of mayhem) Nominees: @Drygulch , for his attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave @wchnu for his 2 pass shave with a blade epoxied to a twig What's the Worst That Could Happen? (i.e. best documented shave attempt with an open blade implement) Nominees: @BaylorGator for his multiple pass shave with mutlipe new open blades (not gonna win) @SharptoothC for his first shave with a straight razor Also few Shavy housekeeping questions for the 30DC: 1. Is there anyone out there who hasn't shaved with the Japanese pain stick and reported it yet? Awards in this category (which are subject to, and will change today). I'll try and wait for everyone to weigh in, but the clock is ticking on this one. 2. Anyone nominated for the "What's the worst that can happen?" award should post themselves or others who report their first shave with any new open type razor in the Shavy Awards Thread, as I can't really weed through all the posts here to find them. I remember a couple, but not the bulk of them. This award, unlike others, gets an automatic nomination to all who qualify. Therefore, to encourage others, I will nominate myself, however the Academy has made it clear that the nomination is symbolic only, and I will not be taking home a shavy. 3. @Linuxguile, I want to get your category and prize on the board, I just don't understand what the category is, or the story behind the nomination. Please let me know at your convenience, as I'd love to put it up along with @wristwatchb 's nomination. 4. Please post all nominations in this thread. Posting or suggesting the post in the main focus thread is encouraged, but please post a duplicate post here, as it's hard for me to manage nominations with all the posts there. Thanks for your help on this.
Sorry for the delay, the award is for those 30DC members who are "playing it safe" keeping with the tools and techniques that work well for them, staying away from the " I'll advised" aspects of mayhem. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
