  4. The late great Congolese singer Tabu Ley Rochereau with a beautiful, but sad song. Whoever wants me to translate the Lingala into English I'll be happy to.

  5. Oh mon Dieu - this song is gorgeous. Tabu Ley and his arch-rival Le Grand Maitre Franco Luambo Makiadi doing a duet. I remember hearing this song in Paris in 1992. The Congolese call music like this Ancien Succes (Old Success) and they also talk about Nostalgie ya Kin. (Nostalgia of Kinshasa.)

Bo yoka yango! (Listen to it!) ;)

  13. Another awesome song from Congo-Kinshasa from a dear personal friend of mine who passed away not too long ago.

Not in this video obviously, but when he was in Montreal I did a duet with him and we sang this song. Listen to the electrifying guitar explosion and watch the dancing start in the middle of the song.

Jean de Dieu Kiesse Madilu aka Madilu Systeme performing "Waini Mobunda!"

    Atchatcha!
  14. I was in a band in high school with Gurdy, the guitar player. Still talk from time to time.
  15. Listening to some Hank 3 today....
