So I was really excited to get this shave going. I always wanted a Futur but the price has always prevented me from buying... that and how aggressive it is. Well this beast is aggressive . I started off on 2 and it felt great.. on my second pass I decided to up it to 3... yes I know..
most go down the dial instead of up the dial as they proceed through the shave... the second pass felt fine as well. I did feel a little more of the aggression but it wasn't bad.. my third pass.. I decided why not move it up to 4...
... yeah now the blade was really present and well it's fairly aggressive at 4. I felt the blade scraping as I usually do on aggressive razors. It wasn't a great feeling. I did a little clean up and set the razor at 1. It felt comfortable there and overall I got a good shave.
The aftershave let me know that I had pushed the limits of what my face can take. The burn and sting hitting only in a few spots and not as bad as I was expecting. I'm glad I bought it and look forward to shaving with it again. The next time I'll start at 6 and work down ...
A brief review of the razor:
- packaging : the razor comes in a nice cardboard box, but the company mails it out in a bubble lined envelope. My box canes crushed, but what do you expect for free shipping from china?
- quality : the razor seems well made, the razor has a nice heft to it and it wasn't bulky at all. I've seen reviews that people had discussed the bulk of the head. I thought it was fine.
- fit and finish: the fit of the razor was excellent. Everything was tight , the blade sat even on both sides. The adjustment didn't click but I'm not sure it does on the real Futur. Now, the finish isn't bad at all. I did notice on the interior that the coating / paint didn't get applied correctly. But for the price of the razor , I'm totally fine with it.
