I had one of them in the past. They were manufactured about 15 minutes from where I live which was the main reason I picked it up.

Using dogs to power the machinery is definitely an oddity.

    Restore it!

Just round off the broken toe, until it looks good. You probably won't be able to read anything on the tang after sanding and polishing, but who cares? The joy of it all comes when you get a BBS only a few hours after starting on a blade like that!

We are a strange little niche in this big wide world, aren't we?

The corner was rounded, and a lot of rust taken off, but the pitting was extensive. It did take a nice sharp edge though.

Looks good! Curious how it shaves. Probably as good as any other vintage blade out there!

I plan on using it tomorrow.
Looking the name up, it states this razor was made between 1862-1873. Both even close to my oldest, but still old. I kind of like it, because it's unique, old, and was badly damaged.

90% of what you see for sale on "Fleabay" isn't in as good of shape as your "quickie restore"!

Thanks, but I want a little better, when it comes to removing the corroded metal.
What I'm going to have to do is find some Wet/Dry paper that will do a better job, or find a good sanding attachment for the Dremel, that won't destroy the metal.

I did shave with it today, and it performed splendidly. It's now a first string razor.

It might "sing" as well, though!
