Doug, thanks for the kind words. That's high praise coming from you...as you have some fantastic brushes. Have a great weekend, Doug. Stay dry!

Let me jump in and say that is the perfect attitude. Remember that when the blade slips and tries to slice your ear off.Keep up the good work.

A dubious distinction at best. Also I may have inadvertently taught my 10 year old daughter a couple of new words.

That thought crossed my mind, too. Barbers hone, don't have the pasted strop. I know what a dull open blade feels like so this should happen quick.

OK, Charlie, I don't even know what a doily is, so we may have to revoke your man card.

Of course, I am pretty sure that if I try your approach on ordering a CH2, it will not end well for me. Maybe my man card has been revoked and I never realized?

    Randomizer today:

I wanted to use the GEM 1912 today with a shimmed blade. So I clicked through the randomizer until the 1912 popped up and it gave me a great combination of soap, brush, and aftershave. I glued together two used injector blades and used those as the shim, in the vein of @clint64. Interesting shave. The results are smooth and close. It felt different than a regular, unshimmed blade, but I don't know how much of that was anticipation. Nice results in the end. The Sandpiper aftershave is a winner for me.

A shim or some similar alteration (perhaps a modified DE blade in an injector) is about a Mayhem as it'll get for me!

    Have a great weekend!

Perry, the shimmed blade is different, subtle but different. I thought it made the razor a little more efficient and smooth but certainly much quieter.

    MAYhem Sayuri Shave

TSS - Gingers Garden; Acqua di Florida tallow
Omega Pro #98 boar, Osaka Suribachi bowl
Sayuri "Small Lily" Simple Razor kamisori
    '59 Gillette #195 Fat Boy, Feather Hi-Stainless
Alum block, Murray & Lanman Florida Water

Hoping for the best, planning for issues, I grabbed up one of my favorite tallow soaps. Our Irena's @soapbuddy offering through The Shaving Shop produced a spot on matching scented lather. Put the kamisori to my cheek for a WTG pass. It pulled. Switched sides, and pulling again. Letting the lather dry on my face for a few minutes, I put the blade to my barbers hone. I'm hoping Adam @Drygulch has better skills than I. Without a proper way to view the edge it got what I assumed was a "touch up". Relathered, careful setdown, no pressure 27° optimum angle WTG pass. Nope. Dropped a fresh Feather in the Fat Boy, set to number nine, and completed the shave. A DFS+ bordering on BBS, but I give credit to riding the cap, and not downshifting off High setting with a new Hi-Stainless blade. Alum was a little loud on my neck, so no Little Lily issue. The high alcohol AS sparkled as well. I wanted to be The One to get some kind of function from the Sayuri. Not today.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I'm going to try to mix the Marshlands aftershave(which I did today)with the Fields&Streams shave soap(Local Gent Co.). You'll see that combination in a future SOTD.

Some guys have their wives hold onto them for safekeeping. You know, to keep them from losing them?

    (This is intended in fun.)
