GEM 1912 with a shimmed blade today. I used two injector blades and glued them together to make the shim. Nice shave in the end. I'm pretty darn smooth in one big pass with generous clean up. I want to try the shim a couple more times and then compare it to an unshimmed blade. I'll see how that goes this week.

    Have a great weekend!

For those keeping score, nine hours post shave I'm calling the Shake Sharp the winner, definitely more of that Velcro feel developing on the PAL side of me head. I'll try an AC blade next time. Congratulations Mr. Sharp.

I tried the Damaskeene OC for the first time this morning. Keeping things consistent I shimmed the blade like the regular Damaskeene I used yesterday. I went with a traditional 3 pass shave followed by touch ups along my jawline and right neck ending in with a wonderful BBS. This has to be one of my best shaves ever. I found the Damaskeene OC to be smooth and efficient. I did not find it more aggressive than my regular Damaskeene. I did find it to be a touch more efficient. One thing is for certain this razor is a keeper.

Shake Sharp (Permasharp²) vs Shovelhead (Blue Star), both appropriately shimmed. Wonderful shave, both very close and comfortable, I'm again thinking the SS side is a tad smoother on the crown. Not pushing these carbon blades too far makes me appreciate how good these razors could be. [IMG]

The VDH Luxury Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Bunny B-400 Badger brush. I did two passes the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher razor and CVS SE blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Wonderful Sunday morning shave today. I can't say enough good things about this soap, I love everything about it. The Fine AS compliments the soap; it's a brighter and fresher Vetiver scent and blends great with the marshy L&L. One pass with the Supply and one with the Chimera and I'm happy with the results. Have a great day folks!

A surprising smooth and comfortable shave, close but not ultra close.
In the blade container are ribbed blades , with no spine. Has anybody got the knowledge to identify it

For those who own both a Supply SE and a Schick ( Type G or I for example), how do they compare?

I agree it is a good shaving razor.

I think you will find the shaves are outstanding with the unshimmed blades.

Of the Two Schicks the I is the best IMHO.If you have a mild beard the Supply may be OK, but I get a moderate shave with one. Reckon I1 is probably better with a chick, much better with a Twin Blade.

Sorry the Pics are not great the blades have a ribbing on them, quite thin with no spine.

    Blade: GEM Stainless with shim
    Razor: GEM 1912
    Brush: Surrey badger
    Lather: Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Very nice shave with the shimmed 1912 this morning. Smooth and efficient. Loved the menthol effect of the Glacial Lemon Chill from Stirling. A terrific shave to start the work week.

    Have a great Monday!

The 1914 has a tough act to follow, last night's shave + 10 hour evaluation of the 1924 had my face still near BBS and it edged out the Shake Sharp on my head. Wow. The 1914 (fresh Blue Star) this morning did not feel as efficient though certainly an excellent shave. LA Shaving Soap Topanga Fougere was terrific![IMG]
