Today's shave was nice. Route 66 and brothers brush worked perfectly. The GSK performed great. Just like riding a bike, the GSK provided a wonderfully smooth, albeit loud shave. I'm completely bbs, although a got a little weeper on my strong side neck. But my method of use for the GSK remained. The key to getting a close shave is not over tightening the handle, just snug. Otherwise it gets very mild.
I finished the show with alum, Crusellas, and botanical balm.

So this was my FIRST SE GEM shave... I have same 1912 as you (also have a bullet tip, clog pruf, micromatic. feather tip {sp?} and a every ready 1920 something? ) Way easy to learn, the angle was instant.. I did not find it aggressive - I got a great shave ! very audible, I used the custom handle for the first shave - I will use the original as well - that original handle is pretty! I also got a new 49er gem junior that is gold and sparkling - they were all very cheap --- but your review on the 1st gem shave is exactly what I experienced - I am finding that rigid blades are better on my face. It don't understand how Gillette won the Razor wars- but its pretty cool that I can find SE blades at cvs, wallgreens, rite aid and almost all grocery stores - you cant find injector blades at any brick and mortar stores - but u can find se blades - so there must be a huge following or painters looking for scrapers to be sharper ?

Proraso White Tub today. 20 seconds to load the JB Silvertip. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Vintage Gillette Platinum Plus still in the Gillette Fatboy. Excellent smooth, close shave. I finished with CC Frozen Vetiver aftershave.

A more mildly-mentholated Stirling soap but it's still cold enough to make you shiver. The Frostbite aftershave is really icy and it's got an awesome scent. It's also very soothing!

 

Simple but enjoyable shave today.
