Rod and Amanda, I think I am a sucker for your tropical spring/summer offerings. Great job on these scents. I like that they are more complex and give me the same satisfaction as eating warm chewy butterscotch. Great job.
I selected the Black Ice for tomorrow. It's the "junior Glacial Obsidian" because there's only about a quarter of as much menthol. The anise scent is very similar - just not as strong.
I have some Stirling awards points to use. Help me make a decision. I currently own full tubs of: Facial Eskimo Tuxedo Iced Pineapple Baker St Glastonbury Port Au Prince Barbershop I have samples of: Sandpiper Arkadia Sunflower I am considering: Glacial Lemon Gentleman Coniferous Ozark Mountain Margaritas In The Artic Gin and Tonic on the Rocks Island Man Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
If it helps, I prefer "natural" scents as opposed to "cologne" scents as a rule, though there are exceptions. I am currently light on "woodsy" and "citrus" scents. The Eskimo Tuxedo scent is drowned out by menthol to my nose, but I love the feel of the soap. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
That's a worthwhile observation-I just bought the Sandpiper w/added Menthol. The menthol does cut into the great(IMO)Sandpiper scent, but not by much, luckily.
I couldn't believe how cold the Black Ice soap felt this morning. The menthol was strong enough to make my eyes tear a little. It's the first time this ever happened to me with this soap. It's like it took freezing lessons from the Glacial Obsidian! Lol
YES TO ALL OF THEM!!!! Oh, wait, that is not a choice? Since you already have full tubs, I will exclude those from my selection since I prefer variety over quantity. Love Sandpiper Arkadia Margaritas in the Arctic (just used it today and love the lime and lemon scent!) Island Man Gentleman (love it) Would choose any of these in a heartbeat. Do own Glacial Lemon (yet to use but do love the scent and love other glacial soaps si this should be a winner too) Gin & Tonic on the Rocks (Scent is OK but then again I am not a gin guy. Menthol is perfect and scent is still good and strong)
Margaritas in the Arctic was delicious today. I love limes and the scent was full of lime and lemon goodness and the menthol was, as always, in the perfect amount to get the sensation of ice cold limes and lemons... in your face!!! Love it just as it is.
I'm sure you'll love the Glacial Lemon Chill - it's a menthol atom bomb like all the other Glacials, trust me on that. The Gin & Tonics on the Rocks sounds very tempting!
Never tried anything menthol, seems to be a real niche for it though. What would be a good starter menthol to sample with Stirling? One that is not too strong but will definitely give me the experience! Iced Pineapple?
Iced Pineapple would be a great starter. The menthol level in it was only a touch. It's a great soap.
Iced Pineapple is awesome. Enough menthol to feel it, not enough to kill you. And the scent is on point. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
I selected something non-Stirling for tomorrow and for Friday I'll probably go with my Electric Sheep sample. I think it'll last for a few more shaves. My next order will include a whole tub of it. A friend of mine said it smells like Williams and I told him he was nuts! Loll
Yes, iced pineapple is awesome Orange chill, Margaritas in the arctic, Gin & Tonic on the rocks would also make good choices if you prefer oranges, limes/lemons or Gin??? The amount of menthol is listed in the scent description page on stirlingsoap.com. Any of those less than 4 would be good. You can also see all the regular menthol when you select it on their shave soap page. Ooh, I forgot Frozen Tundra and Grapefruit with Menthol are also good choices. Just avoid the ones labeled Glacial and you'll be fine.
The Frozen Tundra has a scent which I finally figured out - it's a delectable blend of wintergreen, peppermint, and some earthy, piney notes. I find its menthol effect very, very strong and it seems to be Rod's second coldest soap after the Glacial ones. It's definitely stronger than the MITA and the Black Ice, which I used this morning.
Of the summer scents, South Padre is my favorite. There is definitely a lot going on in the scent. I can't describe it, but I love it. IT disappears fast in my den.
