Got it. Awards Updated. Also I need some folks to weigh in on nominees for the "What's the Worst that Could Happen?" award. I know that there were more first open blade shaves than Chris and I. Speak up people, this is an accomplishment to be proud of!
Neal did shave with a haunted razor... that could fall under 'What's the Worst that can Happen' (poltergeist led bloodletting)
Adam's catogory. I'll leave that call to @Drygulch or the opening of another category for some sort of spooky related mishap award (which sounds like it could have some teeth - both literally and figuratively). Something like weirdest mayhem event may be the way to go here.
Am I the only one that got a good shave from the modified japanese thingie? I get lost in that thread when I am sleeping.
after combing the MAYhem archive, I believe @Fly2High, @RetLEO-07 , @PLAla , and @John Ruschmeyer (although shaving with an unbranded Chinese blade and shimming a SE are questionable) have managed to keep their whits about them and may very well be "living on the mild side" and thus I think deserve nominations.
Well the unbranded Chinese SE blade was definitely mild. Something akin to trying to shave with a butter knife.
Done and Done. By the way, I have tried to put the act that each nominee performed in order to achieve the nomination. For example, first shave with a straight razor, first shave with a rusty lawnmower blade, etc. Not mandatory, but if you guys can and/or want to add these to any nominees this is encouraged.
Got it now, Andrew. Thanks. Big board revisions have been revised in order to correct revisions that should not have been revised. Here's the current board: Best Pre Mayhem Motivational Act Nominees: @jtspartan for his 30DC brushmaking project The Shavy Goes to: @jtspartan MAYhem Trailblazer Award (i.e. most significant contribution to the field of mayhem) Nominees: @Drygulch , for his attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave @wchnu for his 2 pass shave with a blade epoxied to a twig "stivette" @mrchick for the development of his "finger shaver 2.0" Most Ill Advised MAYhem Idea of 2017 Nominees: @Drygulch , for his attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave @wchnu for his 2 pass shave with a blade epoxied to a twig @NCoxSTL for his shave with a haunted razor Most Successful Shave with the Item Least Suitable for Shaving Nominees: @wchnu for his 2 pass shave with a blade epoxied to a twig @Drygulch , for his attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave Best Mayhem Innovation Nominees: @mrchick , for his "finger shaver 2.0" Worst MAYhem Shave Results Nominees: @Drygulch , for his first attempt at the "blade taped to finger" shave @mrchick for his first attempt at the "finger shaver 2.0" Least Successful Shave with a Modified Japanese Pain Stick (Apparently all shaves with the pain sticks were unsuccessful. Shavy to Be Awarded: Shick Korona provided by @Linuxguile Nominees: @wristwatchb @Fly2High @RetLEO-07 @PLAla @John Ruschmeyer @Boojum1 @clint64 @Paul Turner
I would like to thank the Academy for the honor of this nomination. I don't think I've ever been recognized for using my head.
I suppose I should toss in that the Japanese painless stick was my first attempt ever at an open blade. When it didn't work, I finished the shave with a Magic shavette loaded with a GSB, which did work. I didn't draw any blood though.
You are on the board, my friend. I know there are more like you out there who are hesitant to speak up. Bring it, guys! I have no desire to weed through 60 pages of thread to find you.
