I find the big one with Injectors is what @Drygulch mentioned -- skin stretching. I make sure to do it a lot more with injectors then I do with a DE. It keeps the number of nicks and weepers to a minimum and also helps the blade get a cleaner run at the whiskers themselves. I have a pile of Personna blades around here if you want to try them as well as the Chicks -- just PM me and I'll PIF you a cartridge of them.
May 10 (Wednesday) - just rolling along Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / PAL Gold Thin Hollow Ground carbon (7) Supply Provision synthetic brush Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave Back to bowl lathering this morning. Also back to my normal "one and done" diagonal passes on my cheeks and ATG on my neck. Everything worked well to give me a DFS with no irritation. Both the alum and the alcoholic aftershave version of the WH were silent. I received a care package today from the TSD Shop with two bottles of Aftershave Milk in Lavender and Sandalwood respectively, and six samples of various English shaving creams I wanted to try -- Salter's Indian Sandalwood, Trumper's Sandalwood and GFT and TOBS's Rose, Jermyn Street and Mr. Taylor. I may have to abandon my frankensoap for a week and go back to cream testing...
Thursday Shave Today's razor is a Koraat that was touched up on Zulu Grey with a shave already on the touch up. The edge was good but last shave it was excellent. Given I have to shave again tonight for a social engagement I only did three passes. Finished with just a little nick due to operator error but other than that zero irritation. Without the ATG pass I finished short of dolphin smooth, pretty good for skipping the ATG pass. Irritation A+ Closeness B+ Smoothness A Sharpness A
Wow Neal, I am WAY behind on the thread and just saw this. I'm sorry about what you have been going through, and prayers coming your way that your feeling better lasts.
With most injectors (the milder ones), I shaved with almost cart pressure, and quicker buffing strokes. I almost threw in the towel before I tried that, but I did a focus with them and by the end, I could get pretty darn good shaves out of any of them.
Love the razor and brush! Those scales look almost blood red. Beautiful. Are they wood or what? Brush is really unique and the knot is a great complement to the handle. Also something about a dark metal or a gun metal is just too cool. Love the blade. Nice setup you have there
