The idea of shimming an SE started, I think, over on one of the British forums. Usually, though, it is a Damaskene razor that is shimmed.

I have a partially formed idea. Along the lines of Flight or Fight Award?

For those that leave home during the Awards period. If The Academy approves the category I'd nominate Neal @NCoxSTL as an involuntary participant who would rather been home & shaving.
I'll find a suitable prize to include as I'm proposing this pigeonhole.

I'm not sure how partially formed you mean, Rick. Is the award qualification that nominees have or will miss the full MAYhem experience by traveling/hospitalization, etc., or are you about to propose something along the lines of those flying in the next two weeks try to shave in front of a TSA agent before tossing the blade and going through security and hope not to enjoy a private cavity search performed by a husky man with a high voice and rubber gloves. I'm thinking the former, but "partially formed" has the Academy a bit lost (and frankly a little nervous).

I could lone out the stivette.....

Heehee! The former. Lots of Crew are traveling as part of their employment, or vacation. Those are both chosen reasons for being away from their homes. That means choosing a shave kit that will both satisfy the need, & make the trip. The Czars time away from home wasn't by choice, more necessity.
For those that prefer SRs, they can suffer through a lesser shave, but it doesn't stop the likes of Brian @mrchick. Chris @Bama Samurai chose a fortuitous time to give a SE face time. Those might travel easier than a shavette when dealing with the TSA.
The unformed portion of my idea was how to judge a winner at Traveling MAYhem.

I am working on posts now.

Actually took a shavette and the pink thing too. I have traveled with SR, it's not a big deal, but requires checked bags.

Your category + your prize = your choice. Feel free to decide however you like, and I'll accomodate. Can I assume that the three afformentined guys are all nominees? I'll get the category up and add nominees on the board once confirmed.

By the way, after the Awards, there will be a period where folks can chime in and hand out dissenting awards directly to those they thought should have won. I'm hoping folks will "spread the love" in that part of the process as well.

After further consideration, I'll let it drop. My idea for a prize - A plastic Bic & travel sized Barbasol? Hardly worth shipping.

Thanks. If I had known that all it took to get awarded was maiming yourself, I could have had more accolades than the Beatles.

Your choice, but the Academy liked it. Additionally, putting it up on the board gives others the options of rewarding guys with "dissenting votes" at the end. I'll keep the category up for the day in case others chime in or offer prizes tied to it, even if you decide to punt.

Thanks to @cmorris357 another Shavy Category has emerged, and another nominee (@cmorris357 ) has been named. Best Shavy Award Acceptance Speech. The Shavy Awards - It's the gift that keeps on giving, even when you wish it would stop.

The Academy would like to remind you that the month is not over and the "Worst MAYhemShave Result" category, while full of stiff competition, is still open. I'd encourage you to BRING IT! It's a long month, but he academy is waiting on the lemmings to stampede at any moment.

I'm supposed to give an acceptance speech?
    Ok, here goes-
"I'd like to thank @PickledNorthern for originally (and jokingly) suggesting a 30DC LE brush idea, and to the 4 excellent British Columbia craft beers I drank right before typing in a response saying 'Sure, why not, great idea'. Next, I'd like to thank my 'ol friend Dave S, who said 20 years ago 'I've got a lathe, want to come over and make some stuff? I've got beers (see a trend here...?)' and taught me how to turn wood. He forgot to mention how much I'd spend on the lathe, accessories and tools. Thirdly, I'd like to thank the Vancouver Canucks. For those of you who don't know who they are, they are an NHL team (in theory, anyway) that I have followed since I was a kid. Since they patently refused to qualify for the playoffs again this spring, and therefore were not on TV this past month, I have had the time to make quite a few handles already.
Lastly, I'd like to thank the Academy for this great idea, keeping this thread and providing my prizes. That one was actually honest. Thanks, @BaylorGator ."
