    Williams Wednesday Edition

    IMG_1353.JPG
After a fun week on the road, and getting hours behind on reading...

On Williams-- I was wrong about it, alas, I just didn't understand how to lather it. While it's true that it lathers much better in soft water, it works ok in Colorado. The GEM/1924 Combo has seven shaves on it, and is still kicking. Also, so glad to see we found @NCoxSTL -- glad you're not in the water, and hope you feel better soon. Williams Wednesday might be a thing soon. Just saying. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Thursday!
    :)

Please do. I did inventory awhile ago and discovered to my surprise that I have somehow acquired over 800 injector blades. That's enough to keep me shaving every day with an injector for between 15 and 30 years depending on how often I change the blades. In other words, I will never use them up in my lifetime.

I also have several packs of Twinjector double blades. They will work in any Schick model H or later, so they would work in your model I-1 if you want to try them. (I understand they are not recommended for use in Pal injectors.) I am not a big fan of them myself but some people absolutely love them.

Note to 30DC Crew:. if anyone else who uses injectors and has a later model Schick (or a Supply Provision) wants to try Twinjector blades in it, PM me your address and I can PIF you a cartridge too. I can afford to be generous with them because I got several in an eBay job lot about a decade ago, tried them and prefer regular blades, so they're just taking up space in my cupboard.

The scales are wood and dark red. I chopose a brushed finished for the blade and it looks different depending upon the lighting.

    Thank you

    - Arko
    - Krampert's Frostbite

I was trying to catch up on the thread before I posted, but I fell asleep. Wow, it is good to see how busy it is in here. I did manage to glean:

    -Brian shaves naked.
-Splint Kamisoris are sketchy at best.
-Clint is busy counting tax returns in his head, trying to figure out how many more he has to do to pay for grad school.
-Jim is going all Anthony Weiner on us.
-Doug had to re-wax a pair of skis.

Last week I brought a straight and strop with me along with the Feather, but I just didn't have the inclination to use it, not to mention my OCD not really caring for putting a wet brush into the dopp with them, and spending all day picturing it blossoming into rust like a head of cauliflower. So while I am still crazy busy, I will stick with the IBC and the Feather. When Things are slower, and I am staying in the same room for the week, I will try again.

I have been using Arko for probably three shaves a week the last couple of weeks. I tossed it in my dopp last month, and it has been my goto of the three or four others I keep in there. Super fast, super cheap, and this time of year, the drying isn't a factor. I might be in a minority camp, but I like the scent. It reminds me of my Grandma's laundry room. The rest of you spend too much time hanging out in men's rooms.

Have a good rest of the week, gentlemen. I am following along with you, and will catch up on the weekend.

    May 11 (Thursday)

Rockwell 6s on plate #4 / PAL Gold Thin Hollow Ground carbon ( 8)
    1980s nameless drugstore boar brush
Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap
Alum and TSD Lavender Aftershave Milk

An early shave today. The old boar brush whipped up a good lather from the frankensoap, but didn't have much backbone and felt a little thin when applying the lather to my face. I think it's time to retire it honourably to the garbage can; I believe I have gotten my $5.99 worth out of it over the last 30 years...

Until now, I have used my Rockwell 6s on plate #3. I thought I might get a little closer shave without extra irritation if I moved it up a notch. I did end up with a bit of a tingle from the alum on my neck this time but I am also dolphin smooth there. From now on, I will be using the Rockwell 6s on plate #4.

The PAL blade was completely smooth but still sharp on its 8th outing. It looks like I may be on track to hit 13 again with this one before it's done - no bladesaver honing this time around.

As a finishing note, I tried the lavender balm I received in the mail yesterday. Great face feel and a wonderful scent while it lasted. The TSD products really are excellent.

Hope everybody has a good Thursday!

Another excellent shave this morning. I am really enjoying the Lavender Lime scent and it is on my buy again list. I stuck with a 3 pass shave this morning but mixed it up by going XTG, XTG and ATG followed by touch ups. The reduction was better than with a traditional 3 pass shave and required less touch ups so I will continue to use this pattern with the General. A splash of Agua Balsamica and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
