A thought for the early morning...

Over in another thread, we've been discussing illuminated razor handles (i.e., those flashlight razors that show up on eBay from time to time). One of the things that has come up are the original patents from 1916 and 1917. The first is for the "familiar" style with the bulb in the handle below the baseplate. The second patent is for an add-on attachment which looks, for lack of a better description, like one of those mini book lights clipped to the bottom of the handle.

Let's see... poorly illuminated bathroom (with highly directional lighting)... incandescent bulb holder clipped to the end of an OT handle (or Gem 1912, the patent covers both)... wires leading to an external battery pack... and a blade edge lit from beneath. Sounds like a challenge for one of the MAYhem resident tinkerers. :)

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick L1 injector
    Brush: JR #142 black badger
    Lather: Proraso Green
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Piacenza aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Nice and easy shave this morning. I really enjoyed JR #142 in its first use. Jim's work is really quite good. The L1 injector is a mild yet efficient razor. The 1912 and other SEs might give me a closer shave but I wanted a change-up today because of the roughness of yesterday's shave with the 1912. The L1 hit the spot. I'm also trying to finish off this tub of Proraso and will use it every other shave until that's done. Enjoyable shave in the end.

    Have a great day!

For today's shave I went to the Catie's Bubbles "Tonsorial Parlour" soap. Whipped up a very nice lather with JR#161. The Treet blade is hanging in there, still delivering DFS shaves. I really like the scent and slickness of the Catie's Bubbles. 2.5 passes and a splash of the Clubman After Shave and I had that old time barber shop shave in the bag. Off to another day of fun and frolic in the exciting world of corporate security!
    Have a fantastic Thursday people!

According to the patent, with the light in the razor handle, "... shaving is greatly facilitated and entirely relieved of its sanguinary possibilities." So, what's the worst that could go wrong?

Off focus today. Will go back to Injectors after getting a plethora of good advice here on the thread. Wanted a nice, routine shave and got it with this set up. A great lather with the Baker Street, and 3+ passes later am near BBS.
    Have a great day all!

Fantastic picture Jason. Nothing at all wrong with returning to a proven combination. I think that is the real purpose behind the 30 day approach. You are able to completely dial in a combination and achieve repeatable results. We can return to this when trying out new things that are not going as expected.

Heyy there now. Gotta love that set up. Glad the ole Williams worked out for you.

I just might get in on that offer of the twins.

Keep it on the tracks brother. A day that starts with a treet a Gem and clubman can not be beat. Just needs some Williams in the mix.

So after blowing up Williams Wednesday by falling asleep on my chair and not waking up till Thursday morning I decited to see if I could make the stivette 2.0 thumb model shave. It was a fun adventure. One little slice on my cheek that stopped by the time the aftershave came out. I am calling it a success.

Great photo Mark. The Guerilla looks fantastic. You are not helping me keep my RAD in check at all. I hope James is able to keep up with demand and maintain a ready stock of these razors.

What is your approach to lathering Williams? Is the lather stable or does it dissipate on your face? I have some and find it to be quite slick but always have disappearing lather.

As previously mentioned, I missed your short Hiatus from the thread Jared. Your recaps crack me up. Also, I want to compliment you on your use of a carabiner on the shave bowl. I'm guessing when camping on the side of a cliff prior to an all day mountain goat hunt, this allows you to start the day off right with a nice shave without having to worry about dropping your bowl 1,000 feet and having to climb back down the cliff to get it. Good thinking!
