    Nivea Men Face Wash
    VDH Deluxe
    Made-Rite 12 Boar
    Gillette Super 84/ Kai Stainless
    Schick E2/ Personna
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS

The VDH Deluxe Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Made-Rite 12 Boar brush. I did two passes; one with my new to me Schick E2 razor with a Personna injector blade and one with the Gillette Super 84 razor. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  6. Yes! I used the 1912 for 3 days before the feather weight - It was so great, mind blowing shaves and I really don't know how Gillette and DE's won the razor war.. The angle was so easy with the 1912 - so smooth, the feather weight was slightly milder and that is why I like the 1912 a little better - I will be trying a G bar or bullet type next - I have a few micro matic's and I will save that for last....

  7. Mind blowing shave - You would have to try REALLY HARD to get any blood or a weeper! Just too easy to learn and get a BBS... I don't get why folks do not recommend this razor to people that are ready to ditch the cartridge razor. There also cheap and plentiful and you can still purchase SE blades in every Major Drug store and supermarket (if you don't want to buy in bulk on line, I do enjoy buying stuff when I wait for my monthly scripts ) - also the carbon SE blades work just fine !

I started with DE's- moved to Injectors and collected a boat load of them -now I am using the SE gem's and ever ready's I slowly accumulated - here and there I found some amazing deals!! but the brand new Gem 1912 and the 49r Gem Junior are the best I have. also got an everready - its a 1925 I think? that one also looks barely used..

I just love a rigid blade and the angle of these.. I guess my face likes em too because I have not shed a drop of blood,,

    Blade: GEM Stainless with shim
    Razor: GEM 1912
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Successful return to the 1912 today after an injector sojourn yesterday. Really smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable. Terrific lather from The Fat and a great finish with Fine American. I hope you all have similar success!

    Have a great day!

  10. Another great shave with a fresh carbon Blue Star in the GEM 1912. These blades are anything but economical given their limited lifespan but I'm not going back to the less sharp stainless blades.[IMG]

  11. Yup you see my memory goes out at times. I knew you had the 1912. Don't be leary of the MM's run them flat against your face like they are meant to be used and all is well. You just have to pay attention to the OCMM

I think if more people tried the SE there would be a lot fewer DE guys. The shaves are outstanding and easy.

  12. I think you are the only person I know that only gets one shave from a blade like that. Glad you stick with it though.

  13. I've seen others say they get just two or three excellent shaves which is equivalent to my one beard and bbs head shave. I could and used to push them farther but even at $.20/blade I'm much happier leaving them on a high note.

  15. I was getting frustrated with the lack of sharpness and durability of the PTFE blades but I'm shaving with renewed enthusiasm with the carbons.

  16. I tell people all the time that the carbon blades are much smoother. Birdlives might chime in on that here soon.

  17. I wish I could could find a bulk supplier cheaper than the 30/$6.49 I'm finding, not had but not as cheap as the bulk price on the PTFE..
