It might be worth trying the head from the Travel Tech on a regular size handle, something that is not too heavy but of a normal length.

Hmm.. giving Derby blades as a Shavy Award sounds almost meta since using them should almost qualify one for a Shavy Award. :)

The Lemon Chill looks to be my first choice for Stirling's version of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

I'd go down this road if I didn't already have at least 10 razors I haven't tried yet, including an English tech that is WAY SWEET looking! Pretty sure the Travel Tech is destined for the trade/shavy bin. Besides, it comes with a case and some vintage blades, so it's a pretty cool set.

As for the Derbys, it is rumored (yet unconfirmed) that some people like them and don't get the hair pulling experience I do. If I am able to try enough blade brands to make a decent "sampler pack" from brands not in my top 5%, I may add the two Derbys I have to it, rather than throwing out new blades. If someone wants to use them as part of a "hair raising mayhem stunt" (pun intended), feel free to PM me and the'll be sent to you immediately!

12 May 2017 TGIF GEM/Blade Soap Focus Shave

Pre: Plenty of hot water and a hot towel
    Razor: GEM Featherweight 1950's era
    Blade: Treet Super SE
Brush: JR#161 NY Mets Special Edition
    Soap: Catie's Bubbles "Barnegat Bay"
Post: Hot/Cold rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
After Shave: The one and only Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum

For the final shave of the work/shave week, I decided to take a trip down the Shore(we don't "go to the beach" here in NJ). Catie's Bubbles "Barnegat Bay" was the choice. It's actually made down the Shore in Forked River NJ. After whipping up a fine, slick, great smelling lather with JR#161, the GEM/Treet duo gave its last full measure before heading to the blade bank. 2.5 passes with some clean up. The blade was finally starting to tug some. But hey, it made it to Friday which is all I ask.
Splashed on some VIBR and TGIF was off.
The picture is not mine. It is a shot of sunrise on Long Beach Island however.

I have had very good experiences with KMF shave cream. But my wife and daughter have now stolen mine. I guess they figured I had soap to spare.

    Blade: GEM Stainless with shim
    Razor: GEM 1912
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Fat Friday setup leads to a great shave yet again. Went back to the 1912 after an injector sojourn yesterday. Smooth and comfortable today. All the software worked together for a nice shave.

I have to attend a meeting today and therefore am not at work. I was informed of this late on Wednesday afternoon so I had to scramble to get everything ready to be out. Then, my brother and sister are both traveling in this weekend with their kids. My parents have moved out the house we all grew up in and where they lived for 40+ years. My brother and sister live in Minnesota and Idaho, respectively, and traveled home to see the house one last time. It'll be a busy weekend!

    Have a great day!

    SharptoothC I bite..........

It's been a hectic week. I am o far behind, I just spent an hour catching up on this thread. I went two days (Monday-Tuesday) without shaving because I fell asleep sitting up before I could get to it. So Wednesday I was determined to get my shave in. I was going on four hours of sleep and pulled a 15 hour day, getting in around 1am. It was the perfect opportunity to grab a quick, easy and safe shave. Except, MAYhem. So I grabbed my Feather Pain Stick, a tub of Stirling Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo, and went at it. And it ended up being a save shave anyway. One small weeper on the neck, and a smooth shave overall. Stirling mentholated Sharp Dressed Man AS and I slept like a baby.

Last night I went with the GEM Micromatic. That is a very heavy razor that demands a very light touch. I enjoy the challenge and find it gives me very good results. I also found a good use for the Sayuri. I wanted my Iced Pineapple scent, but after a long day of heavy work I wanted something colder. I started pining for a Glacial Pineapple. Then I looked at my shave bowl, grabbed the Sayuri and used it to take a thin slice of Iced Pineapple and a thin slice of Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo and pressed them together in a bowl. I was uncertain whether the Sayuri would actually cut through the soap, but it turns out that soft soap is the one thing it WILL cut. And the bend in the handle made it well suited to reach into the bowl. The result was awesome and will be replicated.

Are you trying to float that out there like you don't?
Sounds like a potential frankensoap opportunity.

Brother, I have enough soap to shave until I retire!

Frankensoap is a done deal at this point. It is happening.

I think I'm fully recovered from the Finger Shave 2.0 debacle. Today was a perfect shave with a razor I honed, which is always a great way to start a day
I have another MAYhem device on deck for tomorrow just to keep it interesting.
    Route 66 Bay Lime Twist
    Jayaruh #155 Brush
    Torrey Shoulderless Razor
    Lucky Tiger
Vintage Old Spice Lime After Shave

You should order some M-Bomb. You can add it to any lather, and get it icy.
