I didn't choose the razor today, it chose me. I'm glad it did. This vintage Lund was a dream to shave with this morning. Dolphins everywhere are now talking about being Karl skin smooth.

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 injector
    Brush: JR #142 black badger
    Lather: Proraso Green
Post: Witch hazel, TSD Iced Ying Yang aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Easy and enjoyable shave. The Proraso is down to a few shaves worth and has become so soft that it's a little difficult to load. I have to scrub my face more during face lathering than normal to get the soap worked up, but that's no problem. Outstanding lather that was taken away easily with the G1. The Jayaruh #142 brush is soft and luxurious-feeling to me. I really enjoy it. A cooling splash from Iced Yin Yang ended a nice and relaxing shave.

    Have a great Saturday!

Lazy Saturday morning shave using this vintage Sheffield 7/8" near-wedge from Frederick Reynolds; Route 66 'A Perfect Gent' lanolin shave soap, Omega boar brush and Fine's 'Snake Bite' tonic. Smooth & easy. Have a great weekend, gents!

I wanted to have a very basic shave soap today, and as I thought about it...what's simpler than a bar of soap? I have never shaved with just a bar of soap to my recollection, so I figured I would go for it.
I used Purvegetal Tea tree from Trader Joe's, which is an INCREDIBLE hand soap by the way.
The brush is a hand turned custom handle with an amack game changer knot by "that darn Rob"
The razor is a pre-war Gillette tech reworked by Delta echo razors.
The razor blade is a feather... likely on its last use.

It actually whipped up a pretty impressive lather. The scent was nice, but fainter than I am used to in actual shave soaps. My biggest surprise was the post shave feel. I thought it would be awful, but it was instead quite nourishing.

Good shave soaps certainly work better, but I can assure you that you can get a great shave from just a bar of soap.

Hello David, I have had pretty good luck with the Gillette Blue Blades as far as sharpness. I rarely strop them. They are actually my all time favorite blade. Especially the blades from the 1940's.

I'll finish off the week with the same as today, except for
    A.S.-TSD Splash(Russian Leather added)

that's what I was going to use today, but it was a little warmer than I thought. Tomorrow will be more of a Minsk/Sochte type of day here. Mother's Day in the 40's. Niiiiice, y'know????

As usual those straight razors are immaculately kept and seems like you have a ridiculously great collection of them.

Fantastic shave this morning. I had three days growth that the Supply knocked down. I followed that with 2 passes from the Chimera. I ended up with a DFS. The Catie's Bubbles is wonderful; great performance, nice glide and I love this scent. The Spicebomb compliments it very well. Have a great day folks!

Shave went great. It's a heavy razor. The razor likes a newer blade. I originally started the shave with a voskhod with (4) shaves on it and it felt really rough.. but in the end, I got a bbs shave. I'll try a brand new Astra sp next time.

Bringing out the good stuff it looks like. But I own the cream/croap formula of this one. Best smelling soap I own. Only the custom Spice&Wood and Bois du Portugal dupes from Country Club for Men come close.

I have to get up at 4:00 AM to take my brother-in-law and sister-in-law to the airport because they're going to San Francisco for a week - I felt like flying into a rage, but how could I do that to my dear wife? I love the Palmolive Classic cream but no way does it compare to a Glacial soap. Yes, it smells great, it lathers great, and it leaves my skin feeling tip-top but I'll only be able to do a quick one pass shave. Too bad that I finished off my Shulton Old Spice stuff. My planned shave didn't happen today. I was really looking forward to it too. Next time. The day went by too fast. I used a Schick Hydro 5 cart to speed things up.
