When you first started showing pics of it, I was assuming snow melt, then I was thinking that maybe it's just whitewater. Is it still snowmelt from up north?

I am glad the surgery helped. It is amazing what can be done now.

Congrats on the 30th. We should all be that lucky. I'm a few years behind you, but not too far.

As I shuffled software in my pile 'o soaps, the Beta Test Cream made by Chris @americanshamrock resurfaced. When his Limited Edition Lavender/Menthol was shared with a couple members, one tester requested *other*, so Peppermint was produced. After giving my new vintage boar brush a through cleaning I thought it was ready for a test, so the test cream made an appearance. I moved the remaining cream from a one cup container to a more appropriate smaller snap tight dish, and loaded the moistened brush with the residue in the previous tub. Into the suribachi, twenty seconds of agitation, more than plenty of lip numbing York's scented lather. Took my three passes, lots of chin buffing and clean up G-slides. Still had lather left for the right hand lather shot above. That's when I noticed the "Ocean, Pure Bristle, Sterilized, Made in..." print on the vintage handle had washed off. Gotta love testing! The cream performed well, love the Flat Top new-to-me brush. Together I have a product that not only shaves well, it will remove ink! The shave finished well with quiet alum and a Going to visit Mom and out for supper DFS result. Proraso Green Lotion pairs well scent wise with the cream.
    Good Shaves Y'all!
(Chris - I'm looking forward to the next batch of cream testing! This is Good Stuff :happy088:)

    Late this morning:

-Jeeves of Hudson Street ~ Velvet Jacket

It was one of those mornings where several windows were left open last night, and it was cold in the house this morning. I was in the mood for a warm shave, as opposed to the cold water, brisk citrusy shaves I have been having lately.

If anyone has been on the fence about trying Jeeves soap, or looking for new soaps to try, I cannot recommend this highly enough. It makes an excellent, stable, dense lather, and the Velvet Jacket is a great tobacco scented soap.

The edge on this Henckels razor is like laser beam sharp. I am pretty pleased with the finished edges I am able to put on these now. I did order an Arkansas that I will try as a finisher, and if that works out, I am pretty much set in the rocks department unless I get way deeper into this.

This thread is always so hard to keep up with. Several new pages by the time I get off work, and if I ignore the internet for the weekend it is like hundreds of new messages. It is daunting.

So my last couple of shaves have been with my new SP Injector razor. And my initial impressions are....

    meh.

I was excited when I got this razor. Attached the 3-dot plate because I was going balls to the wall aggressive with this razor (or as aggressive as it will be).

So I've only used it twice so far, but the first time I used it only for the first pass, didn't see to cut any hair so I switched to my trusty Schick E3 to finish out the shave. The second time, I paid more attention to the angle, and it did a fairly efficient job. Two normal injector blade passes and some touchups.

Still, and maybe it is the longer handle and heavier design, but I am finding the angle less intuitive with this razor than my E3. When I did find it was great, but it just didn't seem natural to me. Not like the Schick. Not going to give up, but reconsidering my desire to jump in to their new Kickstarter for the Jet Black version. Maybe the aggressive of the E3 has made me spoiled. I dunno.

Other than my razor the rest of my setup remained the same.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Who would have though the Cardinals would be in first place and the Cubs in third now is it?

I am thinking maybe it is just a finding the angle, balance point type of thing? The Supply doesn't have nearly the blade feel on your face that an E has, but at least in my case, it cuts hair better, even with a Personna blade. I have a pretty tough beard, and that razor is injector heaven for me. It out cuts everything I have ever used.

Not trying to play Mr. Rogers neighborhood, but was it the first blade into the razor thing? If so, try loading one manually. That's the only way I do it anyway, because I have been using cut down Feathers in it.

You'll get it, it is a stellar razor.

Charlie, I am glad to hear your mother's surgery went well! I hope she continues to recover well.

Also, congrats on your upcoming anniversary! That is certainly an achievement. If my wife can put up with me for about three more years, we will hit 20. Luckily she is patient and good at steering me right, so we should make it.

IMG_1582.JPG Second, Dad's custom handles are done. (L To R) Per my request, he drilled out the shorter spalted maple handle for the Vie-long horsehair brush by an additional 2mm, and now the loft and density of the knot is just right. WAY better than it was on the original Cremo brush! Additionally the amboyna handle is done, so the Elite Razor Manchurian knot is now in it. I then extracted the Whipped Dog High Mountain knot from its acrylic prison (which required some repair to the base of the knot, as the epoxy held a bit better than I had expected), and set it in the tall spalted maple handle. Totally thrilled with this trio!
