    May 15 SOTD:

    Razorock Plissoft Brush
    Stirling Frozen Tundra
    Gillette Aristocrat Jr
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Artique AS

It was a terrific shave this morning. I really think the Frozen Tundra may be my second favorite Stirling scent. Combined with some Artique, and it was a great Menthol Monday. The Aristocrat Jr was smooth and easy, so this was a great start to my work week. I hope everyone has a great day!

Whilst attempting to pick a razor for yesterday (Well hello, Boker Straight!) I started counting my razors and came to a realization. My name is Chris, and I have RAD. In about a year since graduating from cartridges, I now have 28 different shaving utensils at my disposal. I didn't realize it until now because they take up so little space. I am three razors shy of a full month rotation of different daily razors. While this does not make me sad, I also realized that I have SAD: my soap count has surpassed the one-soap-per-day-of-the-month allotment. For someone who thrives on variety, this is exciting. The vast majority of the razors were in-the-wild finds. The thrill of the hunt drives me. That said, there may be some stuff on the trade block soon, and perhaps a PIF or two forthcoming as I work through what I am actually using.

The Boker paired well last night with Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations Cedar and Saffron soap (currently on sale!) for an expedient and effective Sunday morning shave.

Today I went with the same soap and a Fatboy acquired via trade with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Green blade for a fantastic, safe, and less-than-MAYhem shave. Hope everyone has had their coffee, and that Monday treats you well!

Well, today was my opener with the Fields&Streams shave soap by Local Gent Shaving Co. My aftershave was Marshlands by LL Grooming Co., ordered off the Maggards website. The combination of the two really put me "outdoors", like walking from a field to a stream. Nice cool sensation right off the bat, too I'd used Marshlands once before with Rise Super Foam, but the Rise overpowered the Marshlands. It's a much better blend with the Fields&Streams. I'm happy to have this shave combination.

Ok, NOW I'm a bit sad, LOL. Like I don't have enough razors already. I can't resist rescuing razors in the wild. I think I'm becoming the crazy old cat hoarding lady of razors.

I hoard'em with each bag of 14 disposeABLES I buy. (Well, I suppose that isn't QUITE true, they get put to good use).

Yes indeed. I might try it again on one of those hot&humid days this summer, due to the aforementioned cool sensation. It seemed just right today, as it is on the way to being warm but not quite.

Off-focus again. Feels more like a Superspeed focus, but I've already done that. Too busy this weekend to give the Injector some time, and am wanting a nice, reliable shave before I'm off for what will be a long day at work. Was rewarded with a great lather, a nice 3 pass shave and near BBS.
    Have a great day all!

That razor is so nice, I bought it twice. You're right, it is nice and it gives great, reliable results.

    15 May 2017 Menthol Monday
    Super Speed/Blade Focus Shave

Pre: A lot of Hot water
Razor: '52 Gillette Super Speed Black Tip
    Blade: Shark Super Chrome
    Brush: Omega 6212 Silvertip
Cream: C O Bigelow Premium Shaving Cream
Post: Hot/Cold rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
After Shave: Proraso Green Lozione Dopobarba
For Menthol Monday, as always, it's C O Bigelow. The 6212 whipped it up into a great lathering and the Super Speed/Shark combo gifted me with a 2.5 pass BBS. I have some GEM Blue Stars and PAL's coming from Amazon today so I'll be back to my Featherweight Focus next week.
I have a theory why Monday's have been getting such a bad rap for years. The rise of the use of carts for shaving. This morning's Super Speed shave left me energized and raring to go. The splash of Proraso Green was the cherry on top of the sundae.
I don't believe a cart shave would've done that for me.
    Have an outstanding Monday!!
    HOOAH!!!

Thank you Jim. I am trying to get better with the depth of field. I think I have this look down but I need to experiment with gradually increasing the depth of field.

Great photo Jim. I see you make your own shave sticks as well. I really prefer some soaps in shave stick form.

    Thank you, Clint!

When it comes to shaving out of a dopp kit, you can't hardly beat a shave stick. Stirling soaps are easy to use for this purpose, as they are soft and easy to pack into the container. They also spread on nice and easy. They aren't as economical this way as say Arko (yes @Bama Samurai, I am thinking of you), but it is a great way to take a favorite soap on the road.

I struggle with manually setting up depth of field. I have some auto functions that do a pretty good job, but I need to shore up my knowledge around settings to achieve maximum efficiency. Any suggestions?

For the photo today I used a 100-300 zoom lens and set the my Canon EOS to portrait mode. I will sometimes go over to the mode that allows me to adjust the F-stop and try it that way. The smaller the f-stop the shallower the depth of field. I still have not figured this out as well. Mostly I take a bunch of photos with different settings and hope one works. My photography skills are still a work in progress for sure.

LOL, this sounds so familiar. My daughter asked me to do her prom pics on Friday. I stressed out way too much, and took a vast number of pics in the hopes that some would work out. I got quite a few good ones in the end, mostly because I had good subject matter.
