I'm looking for a sandalwood EDT/Cologne that is not too expensive. One that I can wear "everyday". My favorite is Floris Sandalwood, but it’s been discontinued so I wear it on "special" occasions. I've tried Trumpers, and like it, but it's a little pricey for everyday use. I have SCS Sandalwood and it’s decent, but a tad powdery and I don't need the vanilla. What's the TOBS sandalwood like? The price seems right. Does DR Harris make one? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks Jordan
I like the Ogallala Bay Rum + Sandalwood. It more BR than SW, but it's nice. I also like to get SW essential oil at Whole Foods and mix a drop into some aloe gel just before applying.
Me? The only FO I tried I found at a fabric/crafts store for soap making. They only had 3 flavors. They were all a bit stingy and seemed to kill the lather more than the EO. I mix them into my cream as well. That might have been the quality of the brand as much as them being FOs, but I think I'll stick with EOs for now.
I haven't tried either.....but...... Elizabeth Arden Sandalwood or Caswell Massey Sandalwood could be an option? The prices seem pretty reasonable
Honeybee Gardens Sandalwood aftershave is worth a try. Inexpensive and made with botanicals which, I find, are very soothing to my face.
They claim it's made with EO, and no mention of FO... but at that price, there's no way they're using real Sandalwood EO... unless it's like some weird Outback concoction of Sandalwood from a tree in their backyard or something.
True. Didn't consider that as an option. Just curious... do you happen to know the going rate per ounce on Mysore Sandalwood EO?
Most Sandalwood colognes are a little too strong for my taste. However, I find that Caswell-Massey's Sandalwood Talc on my chest and sholders is perfect for getting a nice wiff of the fragance through the morning and up to noon.
DR Harris Sandalwood is very good but it's a bit on the pricey side as well. I know several guys that actually use it as a cologne although the product is sold as an aftershave. The scent lasts well throughout the day, very nice and warm woodsy scent, not sweet or overblended like some Sandalwoods can be. I use it as an aftershave and skip wearing a cologne, works great. When my 100ml bottle runs out, I'll likely replace it with a 500ml.
Mike, do you use a "normal" aftershave amount when you use it as both A/S and cologne... or do you find that a "normal" aftershave amount (small nickel or quarter sized amount in a cupped palm) is too much/strong?
Just an FYI; that's a perfume oil, not nature made one. I'm sure that will smell different than the real thing.
