Two nights and two great shaved with the Schick E3. A single pass with some touchups and I was good to go for the Symphony Friday night and the Fox last night.

The symphony was Sci-Fi Superheroes with a selection from superhero and sci-fi movies. Started with some Batman and ended with Star Wars. John Williams is truly an amazing composer.

At the Fox I saw Rent. I was looking forward to it and ended up being disappointed. But others sure seemed to like it. Of course I also think La La Land is overrated.

Now just sitting outside listening to the Birds on the Bat. Hopefully we can end our losing streak.

I'm 45 - I remember the paddle in elementary school. I saw it often enough.

The disciplining children in schools has been a weird dichotomy of parents disavowing responsibility, while at the same time denying that responsibility (and the privileges granted thereof) at the same time to the educators - while the government pushes more and more for people to trust THEM to take care of "things".

I can't say where the origination might be - with the people wanting to give up responsibility, or the bureaucrats/politicians attempting to garner power/control for themselves. It could be a failure of followership, or of leadership.

We don't get done until into the second week of June this year, and go back the day after labor day. Marching band runs into the second week of July, depending on what competitions and parades our director schedules. So for us it is the six weeks or so at the end of the summer.

Jason, congrats on finding a New LC for a song! It and the SC are my two favorite three-piece razors!

Have fun with your son this weekend!

Weirdly - I could find lots of LC, but no SC. I now have one SC NEW, but apparently I'm going to need to get a full sized bench grinder/buffer to make real headway with it.

I lucked into a NOS New SC on eBay. I sent my well-loved New LC to Delta Echo Razor Works, and they did a great job with it. The Gun-Kote finish is tough as nails, and it cleans up easily.

    -Frederick Reynolds 13/16 Near Wedge
    -Zenith Boar
    -Stirling Limes Soap w/M-Bomb
    -Stirling Black Pepper Limes AS

The Torrey razor in the photo was next up in the rotation, so this morning over some coffee, I touched it up on my new finisher. The Reynolds wedge was really not where I wanted it to be, so I figured I would hit that one too. I also hit a snag.

That old wedge isn't completely straight. I can't see where it's wonky, but I think it must be on the bevel as opposed to being an uneven spine. One side of the razor can lay perfectly flat on the hone, the other rocks up and down. With the spine on the hone and the heel touching, the toe is hanging up in the air a bit. It seemed to take a lot (way too much?) of pressure to torque it flat, so having zero idea if it was the right way to do it or not, I moved incredibly slowly, keeping the bevel flat to the stone throughout my stroke, using the water or honing solution as my guide to tell me where my blade was. This meant the slightest rocking of the spine, which I know is generally considered a no-no. I know there must be a technique for it, hell maybe I even tripped over it accidentally.

I had zero real hope that this razor was going to take any sort of decent edge, so my plan was to give it a try, then rescue myself with the Torrey, at least for the ATG. To my complete surprise, the razor shaved like a champ. I will have to look a little further to see what the deal really is with it. For how great it shaves right now, there's no way I'm going to attempt anything drastic. It is too nice of a razor to screw up, and might have to be sent off for anything more than a touch-up like I did today. At least until my honing skills improve.

TL/DR? Jared has a razor that is the slightest bit wonky somewhere, and got a good lesson on how much he doesn't know about honing.

I finished up with a nearly perfect shave; par for the course, I had a couple tiny spots on my jaw corners that I didn't quite get, keeping me from calling it BBS.

The old Williams stick still has a bit of original scent, but I boosted it with a splash of P&G Old Spice AS. Doesn't slow down lather making and it gives it room filling powerful smell. I had already decided to use my NEW LC before Jason @jtspartan announced his latest acquisition. Three passes, enough lather to do G-Slides and buffing. Finished with an error free DFS+ reduction. Alum noted no irritation, and the New Old Spice went on well. As I type, I'm thinking about going back for a splash of Shulton. This P&G just isn't the same.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I really like it, but apparently is wasn't much of a hit because it was discontinued rather quickly. Same great lime scent, but the pepper adds some depth to it, and makes it hang on a bit longer. It still fades pretty quickly.

We've also seen the Louisville Orchestra perform a tribute to John Williams. Agreed, he is a fantastic composer.

My Bride and I saw Beautiful: The Carole King Musical yesterday. It was one of the best Broadway shows we've ever seen. If you like music from the 60s and 70s, check it out.

The St. Louis Symphony did a John Williams concert last year. That man simply has too much stuff. It's amazing how many movies he has been a part of. Besides a set from Star Wars they did the Superman theme and a piece from ET.

They are doing another John Williams concert in December. Already got my ticket.

He is hands down my favorite composer. Hans Zimmer is probably my second favorite, though Jerry Goldsmith is a close third.

If that comes to St. Louis I might check it out. Right now the only Broadway show that I want to see that will be coming is Hamilton. I might have to sell myself to get tickets though.

I will be going to the Fox in January for 2 Cellos.

For sure. Ideally I feel discipline should come from home first and then if it doesn't, it has to come from somewhere. I also think that teachers should be able to control their classrooms without it having to come to calling the police. But yeah, it's definitely a culmination of things making it much harder for educators.

I did not shave today, maybe tonight or tomorrow.

That actually was what most of my teachers called me in high school. At the time I used to think that it was because I ate a lot. Perhaps it wasn't.

I was showing my wife a razor, and demonstrating, and forgot that I had put a blade in the razor for tonight, as I got energetic with motions. Ooops. *sigh* First major nick in years, and I wasn't even shaving with it! :) (wasn't even where there was hair! )

I figured I'd go ahead and admit to my stupidity. So far, I've done _three_ dumb things today. I really need to take some more antihistamines.
