Auto-Strop VC1 Razor Feather Carbon Blade Ever-Ready 1 Boar Brush (restored) Klar Shave Soap Dickinson's Witch Hazel Tabac After Shave Decided to use the VC1 today to try out a Feather carbon blade that @wchnu sent me. In my opinion, there is some difference between the Feather and a de-splined Gem blade. It's a bit sharper, as I found out on my first pass and went about the rest of my shave a little more carefully. I took my time and went three passes for a nice BBS shave. I had some slight irritation, but I put that down to this being only my 4th shave with this razor and a sharper blade. Just need a few more shaves to get it right with this razor.
Thanks all, wonderful stroll on the High Line, meandering through lower and mid-Manhatten, a nice respite in Madison Square park and now resting before a big night on the town.

After having used straights for some time, did you find your ability with a DE took a quantum leep? I did, somehow using a straight razor made using a de very much better.

SOTD May 23 Chineese SS Shavette Dorco ST300 Simpson CH2 Synthetic La Toja Aqua Velva Ice Sport This is probably my last attempt at MAYhem for the month. I got this shavette about 6 month ago and never really tried it. I loaded it up with one of the included Dorco ST300's, built a slick lather out of La Toja and away we went. I did two passes WTG and XTG trying to use both hands and doing some skin stretching. Other then 3 weepers there was no other bloodletting. I wasn't quite satisfied with the closeness so I used my Sheraton for a 3rd pass. Finished up with a splash of AV Ice Sport, which wasn't too painful. Have a great day my friends!
Razor: Portland Razor Co Chimera / Supply Provision Custom 3 dot head Blade: Chick Strop: Drygulch 45 Brush Handle: B-400 The Brush by Tom Knot: APShaveCo Tuxedo Soap: Catie's Bubbles Vetiver Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel Alum Osage Rub Aftershave: Catie's Bubbles Black Bergamot Wonderful shave this morning, I love this soap and AS combo. The soap has that wonderful dirty Vetiver scent with the typically great CB performance. The AS started off similar to Fine's fantastic Green Vetiver, a little fresh Vetiver and lemongrass and then changed to the more dirty Vetiver scent. Absolutely fantastic! It's been 8 hours since I shaved and the scent from the AS is still going strong. Have a great day folks!

Thanks Clint. Very smooth and sharp and I don't feel like it will bite me like the Feather series. Also note that you enabled me into getting a brass General!
Today I kept my focus on the Asylum, Semogue 1305 and Castle Forbes Lavender cream... And I think I hit a home run! 23.05.2017 Best wishes of a quick recovery to @clint64 ! Hang in there friend

Should have mentioned that sorry. It is a Feather blade. Wicked sharp. Makes you remember technique. The reward is a very nice shave though.
