No Sir. Cola in my Bourbon, or EverClear in my sweet mint iced tea.

Chicken Express in Beaumont, Texas = very good fried pickles.

Will you be sitting still for any length of time while you're there? I could pack up that box and a half of JD gear for a quick Swap Meet.

Hm. @DaltonGang and myself in the Houston area, you in Lake Charles (casinoland - or did you just manage to sneak south from the "Do not pick up hitchhikers" area?). Who else?

I'm LC Native, but dad move the family to Chicago 'Burbs when I was young. Got the radio announcer Midwestern accent instead of learning Cajun French like all my cousins.

    May 24 (Wednesday )

Gillette Slim on 3 / Topaz Platinum blade (2)
Muhle small silvertip fibre synthetic brush
The Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave

I haven't used the little Muhle synthetic brushes much lately. They're small but load a ton of soap easily and can whip up a giant bowl of lather. The little black-handled silvertip fibre did a super job today. I did my usual diagonal passes plus an ATG pass and then some touchups and still had enough lather left over for another pass at least. This brush and its fellow small Muhle, a Rytmo with a translucent barrel-shaped handle and black synthetic fibres will make great travel brushes. Pop one in an oversized pill bottle alongside the other large pill bottle that holds my stick of Arko and the only thing still lacking is the razor -- an Atra or Trac II if flying, and a four-piece travel razor in a small plastic box otherwise. The whole kit would fit in a jacket pocket.

The shave itself today was a mixed result. I got carried away with enjoying the brush and lather and did a full set of passes plus cleanups. The result was a BBS, which was good, but then Mr. Alum muttered darkly as he checked my jawline, which wasn't. After that, the Thayers alcohol-based WH burned as it went on. Now that it has dried, my face feels a bit dry and chafed, so I am going back for a dose of Nivea Sensitive Balm. First time I have used that in awhile.

Hope everybody has a good mid-week.

I'm no Couyon, just don't have the accent. Wish I'd picked up more Cajun but mom's parents didn't speak it when she was growing up so I got very little. Her father was Pennsylvanian Dutch though her mom was South of I-10 pure Boudreaux.

If it makes you feel better, there are very few Creole or Cajun French speakers left anymore. It's like Texas German - dead or dying language.

Everyone celebrating Diversity now days. There was an active campaign to stamp out the Cajun language about the time my parents reached school age. It still survives, but mostly in those who grew up in homes with both parents being fluent. Like the Spanish I learned in high school, I can mimic but don't know the meaning of most vocabulary. Hazards of growing up in this First World nation. I do envy those that learned American English as a 2nd language.

I shaved my head with the G-bar, because the shavette takes a while and I had a carburetor to clean.

Geez. You could just as easily say you're in Kountze. (which, oddly enough, people have heard of)

(edit) - sounds like we might need to do a Beaumont Meet-N-Greet.

May 24 - hot coffee in the morning

    Merkur 34C
    Rapira SS Chrome (day 3)
    23mm AOS Pure Badger
    DIY PSO
    Stirling Vanilla Bean Espresso
    Alum/Thayers/AOS PSB

Today I pilfered another of my wife's soaps and it was great. It has a great rich Vanilla and coffee scent. There is also no bitterness that you find in a Starbucks coffee. It is just a smooth rich coffee scent with enough Vanilla to make it decadent. I whipped up this awesome soap in my warmed scuttle and it resulted in utter perfection. Stirling never fails to create a thick rich and slick lather.

The Rapira was draggy and was removed after this shave. I had to use short, almost buffing strokes to get through this shave. 4.5 passes but with the buffing strokes it was probably closer to 1000. Alum was stinging but calmed quickly. I expected to be on fire but it was nowhere that bad.

Tomorrow, Sharp Star will be attempted.

If you are a coffee lover, definitely grab some Stirling Vanilla Bean Espresso. You will not be disappointed!
